Hi from another Melbournite!!
« on: November 04, 2012, 12:27:02 am »
I haven't had my Thermomix delivered yet - it's coming on the 10th - but I've been going through the forums looking for recipes and tips and tricks.

I'm sure I'll be around a lot, asking a lot of (possibly silly) questions.

This seems like a friendly place to hang out from what I've seen so far and I'm looking forward to contributing

Welcome to the forum shkooter! This is definitely the most friendly and caring forum on the internet ;D

Only 6 days until your thermomix arrives... do you have a list of recipes that you're going to make first? There are heaps on here to choose from :D

Oh, and there is no such thing as a silly question on here ;)

Thanks Amy.

I want to do pumpkin soup, rice, mashed potato and steamed fish of some sort to begin with - not all at the same time of course. And bread. And pâté. And caramelised onions.

Happy cooking shkooter.
Like your choice of dishes that you want to try.
The mash is really good and soups so easy.
I have steamed fish and it was perfect.
You will have fun too  ;)

Hi and welcome to the forum.  Not many sleeps to go before your new toy arrives.  You'll have a list of recipes a mile long by then.  Better stock up your pantry.

Where abouts in Melbourne are you because I'm thinking of arranging a Melbourne get together next year.
I do the best I can

Hi shkooter! Welcome to the forum! I'm pretty new too, but I'm just loving it on here...it's very helpful and great fun too!

You are going to loving having your thermie...you'll have to tell us how your fisrt few dishes turn out! Once you've done normal rice in the thermie, you'll never go back to a rice cooker! Plus, you'll have to give coconut rice a go too...I'm loving that!

Enjoy the foum, there are so many great recipes on here...and people too!

PS- I'm from Melbourne too! :)

Welcome to the forum Shkooter!  It's a great place and the people here are incredibly helpful and will answer any question you have.

Blackwood, I've had my TMX for almost 3 weeks now and have not yet tried cooking rice (apart from risotto which I've made about 4 times now).  Perhaps I should give that a go.  Mmmm, coconut rice.

Hello Shkooter, welcome to the forum.  We've had a run of new members lately so you will find many on here who are in the early stages of their TMX cooking.  Asking questions, no matter how silly we think they might be ourselves, is useful because someone out there is also wanting to know the same thing but often are not game to ask.  We don't have an award for the silliest question of the year (it could be fun though ;)) so don't hesitate to ask if you are in doubt.

Have you seen the recipe review section for all recipes done from the books?  Not only is it handy to check a particular recipe before trying it, it also shows you exactly which recipes are the most popular and work well.  There are some amazing recipes on this forum as well, you will never be short of ideas for meals.

oh yes, vieveMS, you should try coconut rice in the TMX...it's awesome! Have you tried Quirky Jo's fried rice? If not, you must!!! http://quirkycooking.blogspot.com.au/2009/08/thermomix-fried-rice.html

It's made with coconut rice and it's not really fried, it's actually steamed...it's one of my fave's!
