Loving my Thermomix!
« on: November 29, 2012, 11:18:21 am »
Hi all, I'm a mum of 3 boys (6,3,5mo) from Toowoomba, Qld. Hubby kindly bought me a Thermi 6 mo ago - in fact he insisted! Since then (even though we have a new baby) we have eaten home every night and not once gotten takeaway! Saved $35/wk = $800+ so far - how awesome is that!

I'm a Bowen therapist and exercise physiologist and am passionate about healthy eating and lifestyle habits, so I just LOVE how Thermomix makes healthy eating possible for all, regardless of cooking ability, time and even money (when you factor in weekly savings, initial outlay to buy a thermi isn't that much!)

I found the look of a thermi a bit plain, so in my spare time (when bubs is asleep and I should probably be cleaning the house!) I've been getting arty  and having fun designing decals to pretty up the front of Thermomixes. For anyone interested, please take a look at my facebook page 'ThermoStyle' www.facebook.com/ThermoStyle  - they are quality, removable vinyl decals for jazzing  up the front of our thermi's and the really awesome bit is they are 100% Australian made, supporting local businesses and SAHM's.

I've been using the forum as a guest for a while and am glad to finally have taken the time to register and introduced myself as I've been loving the the thermi community - as so thrilled to be a part of it! I'm really grateful especially for thermomix  cooking blogs 'Cooking for Oscar' and 'Domestic Diva Unleashed' because we've been on RPAH (aka FAILSAFE) diet for past 3&half mo due to serious health issue my 3yr old had and accessing support from the RPAH thermomix community has given me the strength to persevere. It looks like the road to finding the underlying cause and treatment is going to be a lot longer yet and in the meantime we have to stay on RPAH restricted elimination diet bc we can't tolerate any salicylates, preservatives, benzoates etc, nor can I tolerate amines. This is where the Thermomix has really been a lifesaver for me - I have to make EVERYTHING from scratch (including mock tomato sauce from kidneys beans, pear and citric acid) which is difficult at best, let alone with a new baby in the house. So yes, I LOVE my thermomix. It is my constant kitchen companion, gets used minimum of  3+ times a day and travels with me if we go away. Thank you Vorwerk!

Quite a lengthy intro but that's me - I'd love to connect more w anyone who has had similar dietary issues and has positive/ success stories in identifying cause and overcoming.  If you have advice or can point me to a thread /website/ resource etc that would be helpful, I'd really appreciate it!

Hello Supermum, welcome to the forum.  Some people we have to drag information out of when they first join but you didn't hold back  ;D  It was nice to read your story and hear that the Thermomix has changed your lives and made it so much easier for you, that's what we like to hear.  We do have a failsafe postings on here which you may have seen.  Just go to the home page and type in 'failsafe' and you will see all the relevant postings.
Good luck with the decals.

Hello friendly people's and
Thanks Judy - I didn't realise I twas writing a lot, I thought that's what the moderator meant when she told me to introduce myself!  Now that I've had a look at some of the other newbies I see I've probably shared too much. Thanks for the 'search' tip, I had been scrolling through the thread titles in the special diets section which wasn't time-friendly, so that's a big help!

Like the look of those decals!!! :) I'm a part-time crafter too, and I reckon with kods its so satisfying - kids are never "done" so it's nice. o make things and see them complete - and if someone will buy some of them, even better!  ;)

Hmm, is that mock tomato sauce on here? Might have to have a look around - I have a good friend whose son has allergies incl tomatoes and I'd love to show her yet another thing tmx can do!

Hi Supermum.

I too have three boys - 9,7 and 2 and it is so nice being able to make food from scratch so easily for them :)

I have only had my themie for a few days and am also loving it!

I had a look at your decals - they are great. DH loves the camo one. It would go well in our kitchen with the boys and as my nickname for my thermie is "The Therminator" (Arnie for short)  ;D
You can't buy happiness, but you can buy cupcakes - and that's kind of the same thing :)

Hi super mum. I love the decals. A couple really appealed to me.

You might like to go to the end of the forum and advertise your business in The Market Place as other members have done.

Hi Jo-nz,
I had a quick look for the mock tomato sauce recipe & couldn't find it (there were some other pear sauce recipes though, but the one I use has kidney beans in it, so it actually looks red!), so will post for you/ your friend in the Special diets section.
