Buenos dias from sunny Spain
« on: December 12, 2012, 02:57:14 pm »
Hi Thermomixers of the world! I found you on Google+ a few weeks ago and thought I'd introduce myself.
I'm Jónico, I lived in the USA till I was 20, then have been in Madrid since 1983. You clever ones can do the math, the rest should just enjoy the mystery of numbers  ;)
I've been cooking lots of dishes ever since college, and never had a food processor or anything. My mate Javier bought me a Thermomix for my 50th birthday (oops, no more mystery!) and we've been using it like mad ever since. I have to admit thata t first I was a little disgruntled at the thought, since I considered myself a good cook without it. People we knew who had one were the "disaster in the kitchen" types, and in fact they rarely used their thermomix except for a few recipes. So I wasn't exactly thrilled, but hey, far be it from me to look gift horses in the mouth.
Our thermomix lady did a fab demo and showed me good tricks to get started. Then we did most of the "learning curve" recipes. Now we're making and adapting recipes on our own, and I'll post ones that turn out well in case anyone would like to try. Javier is from the Canary Islands and does lots of lovely soups and stews from his family's recipes, but now in the thermomix.
I do Spanish and Mediterranean cooking as well as American standby dishes, and I love international foods: Indian, Thai, Nepali, Chinese, just about anything. The thermomix + wok combo might be a pleasant surprise.
If you'd like to know something about Spanish food, let me know.
Un abrazo a tod@s!
Jónico
