Christmas Day Menu
« on: December 17, 2012, 05:26:23 pm »
Just wondering about traditional Christmas lunch menu plans - what are you doing in your Thermomix?

I always make the white sauce and custard for pudding, but that's it. Thinking this year I should try gravy? Maybe steaming veggies and I need a nice simple breakfast / brunch pastry too.

Any tips?

We actually have a cold meal so I really can't offer advice. Sorry. I'm sure the gravy would be lovely and the custard as you said.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

I love the gravy in edc makes a lot, which I freeze in portion sizes.
I child-proofed my house, but they still get in!

MM's Christmas Menu

Xmas Eve: Spare ribs in a honey BBQ sauce. Served with a Potato Gratin and Sweet and Sour Red Cabbage

Xmas Day Breakfast: Brioche and freshly squeezed orange juice

Xmas Day Snack whilst opening pressies: Smoked Ham (Parma) and home made bread

Xmas Lunch: Roast turkey with stuffing, Roast Spuds, Parsnips, Peas and Carrots. Xmas Pudding. Minced Pies, Port and Stilton

Xmas dinner. Going to mother-in-laws to eat lots of nice things. She has a Thermomix, so I guess it'll be spinning away

Thermomix will be used a lot and I cannot wait. Start my 2 week holiday tomorrow!!!

It will just be the 2 of us for lunch so I'll do a rolled turkey roast & root vegies in the weber & steamed vegies in the thermomix.  Won't bother with dessert apart from ice-cream.

MM what a day of feasting!  Enjoy your break  :-*

MM, your menu sounds delicious :D

I think we have sorted ours out now...

Table Snacks: Homemade chocolates, nuts, homemade crackers, cheese.
Lunch: Cold roast turkey, roast pork, prawns, garden salad, potato salad, pasta salad (?).
Dessert: Fruit salad, lemon syrup cake, Christmas pudding, brandy custard, homemade icecream.

I think that should be enough food! ;)

Uni,

I use a my mum's recipe for my bread machine: Flour (white and wholemeal), sugar, powdered milk, sesame seeds, olive oil, salt, yeast and sunflower seeds. Delcicious.

As for the Brioche, I am going to be lazy and buy already made mix!!!

Everyone's menus sound amazing!

We are having lunch at our place with our immediate family:

Starters - cold seafood, spare ribs (my brother doesnt like seafood  :-)))

Main - festive spicy pork belly, beetroot salad with honeyed pecans & raspberries (both from Merry Christmix), ham and another salad and baby potatoes

Dessert - raspberry, lime & white chocolate mini tarts (Merry Christmix again!) and a fruit platter

Will also bring out some nice cheeses and crackers at some stage. My husbands parents plus his brother have decided they are sleeping at our place Christmas night so might save that for the evening to serve with cold ham.
