Hello!
« on: December 28, 2012, 08:56:59 pm »
Hi All,

I have never been involved in a forum but since I think so many tricks and ideas can come from others with the TMX I thought I would join.
My hubby got me the TM-21 in Spain in 2001, I still have it..... but it is in Spain. When we moved to the US 3 years ago I brought it with me (could not be without it!) then found out from an electrician friend of ours that even if I had 220V for the machine the waves (or something or other) is different than the European model and it would probably not work. So not risking ruining the machine I took it back to Spain and use it when we are there. I will probably give it to my sister-in-law on our next trip..

So I waited (and saved) for 3 years, resisting getting a food processor, blender, chopper, scale....nothing....anxious to get the new model that works in the US. Got it about 10 days ago and LOVE it! I am still getting used to it, I almost wish I had all my books (I think I had about 4) in Spain so I could do some of my familiar recipes in the new machine. I know the speeds, temp are a little different (ie 3 1/2 was chop and I think it is 4 in the TM-31) and I am not familiar with the reverse blades. I need to sit down and do a few recipes from the book it came with.

I am part of a foodie group here and told them at our December meeting that my TMX was on its way and how excited I was. I was explaining the machine and they have asked me to do a demo for them in a month or so, so I would LOVe is someone could email or send me a list of suggestions to really show all the features of the machine. Here in the US it was difficult to buy it. I had to go through an office in Canada (the first one refused to sell it to me) the second sympathized with me especially when I stressed that I had had one for 10 years and was very familiar with the older model. So some of my foodie friends may be interested in getting one so I want to be sure I can give them a complete demo.

So I look forward to joining and participating!

Catherine

Welcome to the forum Catherine. The demo in Australia is different to the demo here in the UK.When I had my demo it consisted of a soup, chopping herbs with breadcrumbs,a cheese sauce, steaming veg,Italian sorbet and bread.Just have fun cooking whatever you decide to cook for your friends :)

Hi catherine and welcome.. I would just go with some fabulous recipes to show it off.. The pina colada on here is divine and you can make it very quickly and they can enjoy it while you show them the rest of the recipes.. I think the aussie demo is more involved than alot in europe.. In france they showed you how easy it is to make a pastry dough.. Then they show you sorbet.. Then an all in one dish with a sauce, starch, vegies ribbons so it cooks quickly and either fish or chicken in top tray.. They also ask the host to make one of their favourite recipes to present..

Hello Catherine, welcome to the forum, I had heard that the Thermomix wasn't available in US , maybe a good opportunity for someone to start up a distributorship.  Such a wonderful machine, I'm sure that Goldfish will fill you in on what we do in Australia she is a wonderful person.  Your friends will be very envious but also shocked at the price first up as we all are but we really love our machines and can't do without them now.

Hi Catherine.

So please you now have your Thermothingy  In the US.  You will get used to the new model in no time.

You might want to have. Look at  http://www.superkitchenmachine.com/.  Helene is a friend of this forum as well as a member. She is located in Vancouver and there is no one better to ask about dealing with the two distributors in Canada should any of your friends wish to buy.

Although very busy selling her super spatula  kits for us Thermothingy  lovers she always has time to answer your questions about the selling of this machine  in North America and is somewhat of an expert on the subject.

Lovely to have you on board . We have  a few now in the USA.

Hi Catherine & Welcome!
Wow! What an ordeal to get you rmachine, first a long wait then finding a distributor!
My friends are always impressed with 'fruity dream'from the Every day Cookbook (EDC) -they like to see the icing sugar made in the process. They also like chunky dips and beetroot salad is always a winner :)
Happy days :)

Hi Catherine, welcome to the forum.  I'm so glad you persisted until you managed to get a TM31, it must have been hard living without a Thermomix until this actually happened.  With your experience with the older machine, it won't take you long to get used to the new one so spend a bit of time familiarising and testing out some recipes before inviting your friends over for a 'demo'.
