Hot Cross Buns
« on: January 02, 2013, 06:20:14 am »
Has anyone else noticed that Hot Cross Buns are in the shops already?  :o
Woolies has them.
Is it just me - or is anyone else not overly impressed with them being in the shops now...a mere 3 months out from Easter?
I refuse to buy certain shaped chocolate or hot cross buns until the week before Easter.

Both Coles and Woolies have them. I noticed when I was looking at the junk mail for the specials. Unbelievable. There is a bit in inside Cover in today's West Australian about how you think they would let baby Jesus have a few days before they introduced Easter to kill him off

LOL Cookie ;D

I didn't notice any hot cross buns in Woolies in today, but it wouldn't surprise me if they were there. I'm like you Nikkit, I don't buy any Easter or Christmas products until we are at least in the right month! Supermarkets really annoy me >:(

But we, being awesome Thermomix owners, can have beautiful Hot Cross Buns any time of year anyway ;D

Our Coles has Easter eggs too  :o Didn't notice any hot cross buns. They are still clearing out the Christmas stock.

Gosh. I thought we had to endure the valentine's day marketing assault before Easter.

don't give in to all the marketing crap.

Make them yourself at Easter.
My Thermomix,  Kitchen Aid, Pizza oven, Nu Wave 5 in 1, Spatulas, all brings love, laughter, happiness, and great food  to my kitchen.

I did make my own last year, and bought some too, but was just a bit cross at the thought that we can't enjoy the post Christmas fun (??) with our kids and presents on holidays before the supermarkets crack on with the next 'major' event.
Marketing 101... give 'em 5 minutes to cringe at the credit card bill and hit them with the next thing on the list.
Not that I'm religious...but what does Jesus and hot cross buns and chocolate all have to do with each other anyway?

And you are right Gert - this topic probably was discussed last year, I was just a bit cranky and had to vent after my trip to the shops.
