Cooking books to give away
«
on:
January 13, 2013, 07:45:16 am »
I have had a clean out of all my cooking books (and I still have quite a few!) There are about 50 or so, mostly WWW books plus others. Free to anyone who can pick them from me, north of Perth. One condition... must take the lot! Just email me

Pity I am not nearby
If no one takes them, donate them to Vinnies or your local high school.

Just a dumb question Kayc. Does your WWW stand for Women's Weekly, Weight Watcher's, or something else?

Good healthy cookbooks and no-one was interested - once it was revealed they were Women's Weekly, a different matter
If I was in Perth I would have been on your doorstep Kay - I have always loved them but there must be some I haven't got.

I am not familiar with Perth but have always been fascinated about this great divide by the river! Is it the physical distance or an "emotional" one??!!

It is a bit of a running joke. People who live north of the river prefer that side and the same with us south of the river people. Perth is expanding northwards quite quickly. In the south there is Rockingham and Perth is spreading that way quickly as well.
Often people on one side are not as familiar with roads etc on the other side. Eg I live south and can pretty well find my way around most places on this side of the river very easily. On the north side I am no where near as familiar with the areas. I think we tend to shop etc on our side of the river, unless we need to go somewhere special like a class by Tenina that is north of the river.

It seems to be emotional with some people although I don't understand why
Cookie is correct in her explanation as I have lived NOR since arriving in Perth in 1981.
We chose Hillary's as we wanted to live by the beach and have never regretted it.
I am ok going south to mandurah or Margaret river but get lost going anywhere else. NOR I can go anywhere easily.
all of our family are NOR as well.

You have to admit that it is interesting for outsiders - mind you there are some sydney siders who will not travel outside their area eg eastern suburbs!

And Canberra is a planned "circular" city!
