We have a Nissan Patrol four wheel  drive. Are you interested in in 4 x 4 or not?
DD has a Nissan X trail.
DH has just bought his Toyota Hi-Lux dual cab four shell drive.

We have a subaru Imprezza, very reliable and very safe.  Never had any problems with it.

I used to have  a Subaru Imprezza before I was married,
then a ford Falcon, now with kids a ford territory  7 seater

Love it. My next car will be another Territory, different color.
My Thermomix,  Kitchen Aid, Pizza oven, Nu Wave 5 in 1, Spatulas, all brings love, laughter, happiness, and great food  to my kitchen.

My DIL has four children and she has VW multi van Astarra. She loves it.  :)
My DD has a Subaru Tribeca 7 seater but would like the VW as she doesn't like having any of the kids in the 2 seats at the very back of the car. She now has 3 child seats taking up the middle row of the car so Miss 6 has to be in the very back row which is not very safe.

Friends with 4 kids have recently been raving about their new SubAru Liberty Extiga. It is based on the Liberty station wagon, but with extra seats. They bought it partly because there is enough room for an adult to sit in the back, and partly because of the DVD player in the roof. Their car has 6 seats, but the newer model has 7 seats. They say that it handles well, and is easy to park as it has a reversing camera and is not too big.
I've always liked the look of the Honda Oddessey, but will have to stick with my little car for the moment. :)

We have a 2011 Chrysler Grand Voyager, I love it great amount of boot space and very roomy inside this is our second Chrysler and I love them.
My sister has had a Tarago which she loved, a Ford Territory which she didn't mind but found it too squashy with car seats, shopping and a pram and now she has a Honda Odyssey which she thinks is the best so far

I've noticed at DD school that the Honda odyssey and Kia carnival are popular with the larger families. Good luck!  :)

Do they still make Taragos?

My cousin has 4 children, all teenagers now and they have a Kluger. It's gorgeous, they had to wait a while to get it though as they are made to order. It has all the bells and whistles and comfortably seats 5 in the back. It has about 4 dvd players too built-in. Beautiful leather interior, GPS, video reversing thingy. It is a very big car though, I wouldn't fancy parking it.

Ford Territory 7 seater here. I absolutely love it. Doesn't feel like you are driving a big 4wd. Would get another one in a heart beat. We only have one child, but love the option of the seven seats when I have extra kids here. I wanted a Subaru Forester but DH said parts were expensive, so I got my second choice.
My everyday car is a Daihatsu Charade. The Territory is used for long trips or when we need the extra space.

Thanx everyone, just trying to narrow down the options ATM - but if we don't get deciding soon we might run out of time!!
Inlaws have a 7 seater Santa Fe which they would not reccommend for us as we will have 4 carseats (Miss6 wants to stay in hers, and we are quite happy to let her as she is not a big kid and I think carseats are safer.), also not much boot space for pram and nappy bag - let alone shopping...tho they find it great for the 2 of them and the occasional grandkid passenger/s.
DH is thinking along the lines of something bigger (Kia Carnival/tarago/VW etc) but is as unsure on the pros and cons as me!  ???

Whatever choice you make, make sure you read up on the safety tests carried out on each of those on your short list - surprisingly, some are really not very safe at all.

Sorry to go against all the territory lovers but I HATE ours and can't wait to change cars. Massive pain in the backside with the seats in the back and dealing with kids car seats. If you'll be juggling car seats and kids I wouldn't recommend
