Buy Thermo in USA

Hi all,

Not sure what category to put this in, but I have been raving about my Thermie (Dobbie the house elf) to a friend in the US and she wants one.. Can anyone give me (or her) some suggestions... I assume that they are still not sold there.. Would love to know why...

There are TMXs in the US . . but I believe they've been ordered through the Canadian distributors . . .

Hi everyone --

The reasons Thermomix is not sold in the USA are varied and complex. The machine was sold for a short time and then withdrawn for legal reasons, but there are also cultural hurdles.

I can hardly wait for the day this will change and when that day comes you will hear me whooping with joy, no matter where you live! I will dance on tables and shout about it on the blog and in this forum.

Until that day comes, the two official Canadian distributors are not allowed by Vorwerk to sell into USA. That is the official word. If any machines happen to surreptitiously move across the border, the warranty is voided of course and there is no support for the machine once in the USA.

I receive emails each week from people in the US who are desperate to get the machine. Especially now, with the prevalence of social media, it's impossible to keep Thermomix a secret from friends, relatives and prof chefs in countries such as USA. I am so looking forward to a sea change.

I didn't know if you bought a TMX from Canada for use in the US, you would void the warranty? We will be moving to the US to live and that's exactly what I was planning on doing because I don't want to use an adaptor/transformer because of the voltage difference between the US and Australia. I thought the main reason TMX is not sold in the US is because they are not on metric so sales were poor.

Gosh, Helene!!  That just makes the mind boggle!!  I wonder what was behind that!? Vorwerk certainly moves in mysterious ways.  With a market in the US that just seems to be screaming out with sales opportunities you need to wonder why the delay.
