Well I made the chicken tikka masala tonight (see photos). Was very nice but quite thick. The recipe says to chop the onions very fine / puree them.  I would advise to puree them.  I chopped them finely, browned them in the pan and then proceeded with cooking the sauce.  When I tasted the sauce when it was almost finished, I could taste tiny bits of kind of crunchy onion so I cooked the sauce longer until the onions dissolved, which of course made the sauce white thick ! I added a bit more cream but didn't want to dilute it too much ! We cooked the chicken on the weber q again !

But we still enjoyed it, and my DH actually preferred it to the butter chicken.  Here's the funny thing ........ I always get heartburn with curry (have a minor reflux problem only when I eat spicy food), but I didn't get it with this or with the butter chicken. I find that interesting, maybe it's a certain spice that causes it that's not in these two curries.

We had it with the frozen roti bread we get from the Indian shop. It's frozen raw and you dry fry it in a frying pan and it puffs up. It's really yummy and didn't have time to make bread as well tonight because DH is on night shift so we had to eat early.

So worth a try !  Leftovers for dinner tomorrow !

We are hoping to use our Tandoor a couple of times next week. The kids both want pizza and we are also wanting a curry night. I'm working but if I make most of it the day before DH can light the Tandoor and we will just cook on the night.

Wonder you are so lucky having a DH who helps you with the cooking, I know outside cooking is generally done by blokes but this isn't always the case.  We went to a friend's place for a BBQ once and she went outside and cooked all the meat whilst he stayed inside chatting to us  :o :D

Judy it is great that he can cook but it's not by choice. DH has been our stay at home parent for a long time and works part time from home while I work very long hours and over the years have had to do lots of travel. I would much prefer to be the one at home cooking and doing a lot more with the kids, but as you are aware you just don't always get what you want so we make the most of what we get.
