Oh Hally, what a job, I wonder if you could spray with anything before you restock.  I know if I leave any flour or such in the caravan it always has weevils in it when I check before going on holidays so now I clear everything out.

Hally I know how you feel. Almost exactly 2 years ago when we got back from Singapore I had pantry moths and all their off spring all through my pantry. I threw out a fortunes worth of nuts, seeds and dried fruits. Every container seemed to have them. I now keep all my nuts and seeds in the freezer or fridge. Like CP there isn't much room for food. I have a second fridge going at the moment but as soon as the cooler weather comes, and all the lovely fruit goes away I will close it down.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Hally that would be a nightmare discovering that.  We all have so much in our pantries, no room in our fridge and freezers for anything else either which makes it hard.  I hate the fact that my fridge is so full of opened jars too CP & Cookie.

I have lost a lot of food to pantry moths, found some in my dried chilli powder one time. Not fun and such a waste of money.
I found this, thought it might help you and others Hally

1. Inspect everything in your pantry. Although moths tend to infest flours and grains, you should also check dried fruit, candy, pet food, etc. You're looking for adult moths, larvae, and eggs, which may look like webbing or clumps of grains. Discard any infested foods outside, away from the home.

2. Thoroughly clean every nook, cranny, corner, and crevice with a vacuum and/or warm, soapy water (dry thoroughly). If there were signs of infestation, discard trash or vacuum bags outside, away from the home.

3. Wipe shelves, food containers, and other surfaces with white vinegar. For added protection, use a few drops of essential oil like peppermint, citronella, eucalyptus, or tea tree.

4. To prevent infestation, store foods in airtight glass, metal, or plastic containers.

5. Bay leaves repel pantry insects. Place the leaves inside canisters and cupboards.

6. When you bring dry goods home from the store, place them in a plastic bag in the freezer for one week to kill any eggs. If you have space, you can use the freezer for long term storage.

Thinking about it, I've never had a problem with them in Canberra. Previously in Perth I put 2-3 dried bay leaves on each shelf in the pantry which kept the little stinkers at bay (pardon the pun) :)

Good luck. Pantry cleaning is such a time consuming task.

Bummer H!
Do you not keep your nuts in the freezer?

....I only have lock & lock containers now....it's completely airtight!  I have replaced all my tupperware storage containers with it, as I found T/ware is not completely airtight  :-))
I pick up bulk packs from tvsn when on special

Tomorrow will be all day in my oantry, is quite large, deep!!

Such a waste Hally. It's happened to me in the past but not in this house.
Look very closely in your pantry, not for the moths but for the eggs "maggots".
Look in the areas under the shelves for the moths and look in the nooks and crannies for the eggs as that's where they are laid and hidden.. They are usually in the corners and between the shelves and walls.
After emptying the pantry thoroughly clean and scrub all corners and areas where the shelves meet the walls as that's where you find the eggs. When all cleaned put everything back in place discarding anything that may have been infested. When done use the pantry moth traps just in case some have been missed. Follow Jen's instructions as more detailed than mine but same principal. Good luck.
I have been here now for 3 years and not one yet. I found that when I purchased bulk bags of flour, rice etc that's when I was infested. Maybe coincidence but I never had a problem when buying 1kg of packaged goods.
