Astarra's Slow Cooked Lamb Chops in Gravy
« on: April 27, 2013, 10:19:43 am »
I thought I would post Astarra's recipe here ;)

I spray the slowcooker, then layer the chops in (usually end up with a double layer or whatever), spray the tops, then sprinkle with either Masterfoods lamb seasoning or lamb herbs, onion flakes and gravy powder. I then pour over about 1.5 - 2C total of liquid (water mixed with coke/wine or just water)  then turn onto low for however long. Always so moist and yum - just melts in your mouth.   And there is a yummy flavoursome gravy too!!

I made this delicious lamb meal tonight. Absolutely wonderful. I sprayed the slow cooker and browned the lamb chops (did it in the 5 in 1) added the lamb seasoning and gravy powder but no extra liquid. The result was mouth watering.

Looks great Michelle. I've never heard of lamb seasoning I might have to google it as I really don't want to buy and more seasoning bottles.

What type of chops did you use and how long did you cook them for. I've got loin chops in the freezer so thinking it might try ths for tea tonight.

I used forequarter chops as they were on special and removed all visible fat.

Can I ask how long you cooked them for please Michele? Did you use a high or low setting? Thanks in advance, Katie  :)

Wow, I have only just seen this, am flattered. Thanx for the thread CC and the review Mich!  :D :-*
Never actually thought of it as a recipe, just a way to cook yum lamb chops!!!
And I have done it with no extra liquid too, each result has been good!!  :)
kt2 - I use low for about 4-5hrs, but I have a big slowcooker which aparently cook faster than smaller ones. HTH  :)

I cooked in the 5 in 1 for 5 hours and they were great. My chops had quite a lot of fat though so had to strain the gravy to remove the fat before adding doe cornflour to make the gravy.

I have these in the slow cooker now :) I will refrigerate them overnight so I can scrape the fat from the gravy, and then reheat them for tomorrow night's dinner. Can't wait ;D

This is the first thing I'm going to try when my new s/c arrives.  Would love some quantities to follow though.

I have this in the slow cooker as I type  ;D It smells divine! I have two large packets of forequarter chops (I think it is about 12) which I browned off a little first and then as I had no gravy powder or lamb seasoning I just used FOSM. The boys (should really call them men lol) have come home from work and wanted to know what smelt sooooo good so fingers crossed it is as nice as it smells!! Will report back after dinner  :D

I tried to transfer my chops into a casserole dish to put in the fridge, and the meat just feel away from the bones. Love it when that happens ;D
Can't wait to try this tonight. I'm glad I waited thought because there is quite a thick layer of fat which I can now scoop off ;)
