What are you cooking for Mother's Day?

All our kids, grand kids, nephew and partner come here but all the males bring something they have made and they take care of us girls.... Keeping our glasses full of champers for example my dh is doing a side of fresh salmon oven baked in a  creamy dijonnaise mix .  I have a lot of cake off cuts in the freezer from November when I had to make large slab cakes to cut a mermaid from for granddaughter no. 1. We have crumbed them in the tmx and added 70% dark chocolate, butter and syrup all melted and mixed in with a bit of coffee liquor. Rolled into balls and finished in coconut.  Made some with walnuts too.  Very nice and made us feel good and frugal using up something from freezer - LOL!  Looking forward to seeing what the fella's bring along tomorrow!

Last night mum asked SD's sister and her husband around for lunch, we don't have enough fruit or veg so an early morning trip to the shops is on the agenda now It will be nice to have all of us here, but I just get stressed when things happen last minute after I think I have things organised!

I'm sure she doesn't mean to stress you. She is probably so proud of your ability that she thinks you can cope with no problems. Take it as a compliment, and don't stress too much.

I won't be cooking today. We will raid the freezer. DH has just done the washing, bless him. We're all going out for coffee this morning.

This morning he decided I needed breakfast in bed. I generally don't like it, so this is how it was served.


He said it was nearly in bed because I only had to get up and move about 4 metres to get it. What you see is about half the kitchen bench and the wall on the left is the shower and toilet.

Ouch, just a reminder, don't use a damp tea towel to pick up a very hot bread tin. Not a good idea at all

Thanks Mich, Judy and Cookie Unfortunately the stress did get to me and I burnt the pudding and made the mashed potato like glue But the chicken, cauliflower cheese and custard were good

Well the boys were all brilliant.   Son made chicken lasagne and veg lasagne, son-in-law no. 1 made silverside and chips, DH 's salmon was great and he also made roast pumpkin and feta and herb stuffed capsicum and was kept busy as a wine waiter, son-in-law no. 2 made a rich chocolate cake with raspberries. So all was lovely.  Will be eating a lot less tomorrow to compensate

Here is Quirky Jo's raw macadamia lime cheesecake. All I can say is delicious, but not sweet, just yummy. Haven't told the avocado haters what was in it yet
