Changing from Nonstick to Stainless Steel

I'm thinking of slowly converting from nonstick to stainless steel pots and pans. I have anolon and scanpan pots and pans at the moment and I hate how you can't use high heat and find they often start losing their nonstick quality after 6 months. So I'm wondering if I should go for some no name brands from hospitality stores that chefs use or if there is a particular brand that people are happy with.
I don't really want to hear about getting cast iron, etc but rather stainless steel brands that people are happy with. I really don't think nonstick is as safe as they say.

Good move IMHO Tasty. Hate the nonstick stuff. Got rid of it all some time back and replaced it with scanpan impact stuff. I now have most of the collection as it is often on sale at Victoria's Basement
No frills, tough as and great to cook with on the gas cooktop or in the oven. Goes in dishwasher too. I have a chef inox frypan which was much more expensive but really not much different to the good old scanpan pans.
There's an old thread here

Tasty I have the Scanpan Impact. I am very happy with them. They have the toughness of stainless steel with the heat properties of aluminum and copper. I am very happy with them.

I have stainless steel pans that I bought in 1977. They are still as good as new. The brand is no longer made sadly.
I have a Baccarat frying pan that is stainless I have been very happy with it. Cooks well and is easy to clean.

Buy the very best SS that you can afford. They last a life time. I have several Fissler.

I'm jealous chookie, I would really like a small pressure cooker and Fissler make one but it's way out of my price range particuarly for something that wouldn't get used all the time - I already have a stove top PC and the 5 in 1!

Wonder, mine were bought on sale.
Tasty, if you can buy SS pots that have SS handles and nobs on lid , you can use in the oven for bread.
