My mummy bought me a thermomix so I could learn how to cook (Hi!)

I start with a confession: I am a terrible cook. I've made food so bad that it's un-edible (even for me). I used to live on instant/microwaveable food.
My mum has had her thermomix for about 2 years. She swears by it. My younger brothers who live at home (17 and 13 respectively) also use the thermomix to make desserts etc for their friends when they come over.
I've been sceptical for a while mainly because I lived with 2 other co-workers and the thing sounds like a jet engine when it's cooking so it's not ideal! Well, a few months ago, mum got me one for my 25th birthday. Since then I've moved out and got a place of my own so I have all the kitchen space in the world.
Let me say right now, the Thermomix is god-send! I've been experimenting with recipes from the Thermomix cookbooks and decided to venture out of it! More things to try! My favourite things I've made so far are the risottos. I'm never going back to packet risottos EVER again. Just by making things from scratch, I am eating way healthier than I used to (more raw foods, less processed.. but I still love my bacon
).
Another thing that the Thermomix has given me the confidence to try: Baking! I've only ever baked once before I had my thermomix and it was a mess so I decided to never do it again because I hate cleaning up. Well, mixing with the Thermomix is so easy and I don't have to use multiple spoons, dishes etc so less washing! My colleagues are glad for the Thermomix too now because I keep bringing them treats.
Honestly, best birthday present ever!

Hi and welcome to the forum therunner. You are lucky indeed that your lovely Mum decided to buy you this wonderful present for your birthday. Being an owner herself she knew just how much use you would get out of it (or was at least hoping it would do the trick) - us Mums do know best
Lovely to hear you are enjoying the TMX and are cooking up a storm, well done.

Welcome, you will enjoy this forum to share your thrills in the kitchen. I am a newbie also and it truly has inspired me in the kitchen. I have always enjoyed cooking but when my girls left home my meals became boring. I am now excited about what I can create and look forward to each meal. Have fun and your Mum is awesome to give you such a wonderful gift!

Lucky you - what a great birthday gift - isn't it a wonderful machine! It certainly does make a difference to our cooking and food. I think just about everyone on here has had the same reaction as you and we all love our TMXs as much as we love our cooking and all the new recipes we try and experiment with. Welcome to the forum and to our world of great food and nutrition.

A very warm welcome to the forum TR.. your Mum is an angel!! This is a lifelong gift she's given you and not just in the material sense of giving you the TMX itself.
I don't know how familiar you are with the forum, but if you haven't checked out this thread, spend some time having a look. It's a list (together with the links) of tried, tested and true favourites of a highly respected forum member, CreamPuff63 - it's a cookbook in itself!!

Good luck and really looking forward to hearing more from you soon . . .
