Basic biscuit recipe please
« on: July 18, 2009, 05:41:30 am »
Hi
I am wanting a basic biscuit recipe please for when my TMX arrives.  I want something fairly stiff, and that can have a variety of flavours.  I want to replace Tiny Teddy biscuits, have some really cute tiny shape cutters.

If someone can point me in the right direction, I'd be appreciative!
thanks
Narelle

You might get some ideas from Dani's post here:

Muscovado is a type of sugar if that stumps you.

Thanks for your question Narelle and the website Thermomixer - have printed myself out a copy of those biscuit recipes and put them on my list of 'to do' recipes (growing by the minute).  Once I get my new oven I will make a batch of them all - I like the idea of being able to bake a mixed bag of cookies.  What a great idea.  Might make a batch for DD as well - sure she would appreciate it.

Narelle, I make all my cookies in the TMX. I just put in all the ingredients and mix it until it's combined-even if it's a creaming one. Then if there is anything like choc chips, sultanas etc  I add them in and mix on reverse until they're incorporated.
I tend to just use all my old cookie recipes and do it in the TMX.
Good luck.

I had a go at making Dani's decadent choc biscuits from this site. I must admit that I wasn't too keen on them when they were freshly baked, but a day later they were quite chewy and moorish.  Very easy and not too many ingredients!

I made the dough from Dani's post for the Anzac style biscuit (I would call it more a coconut biscuit myself) yesterday and froze it into two logs.  Took one down to DD's place today when I did my babysitting duty and cooked a batch in her oven - they were a delicious little treat for sure.  I am pleased to say I now have my new oven fitted and over the next few days hope to find the time to use it for the first time.  Almost need a university degree to understand the operating manual though - things are not as simple these days.

How exciting Judy. You and the TMX and the oven will be going non stop. Just like Port Power last weekend.  Glad I tipped them. :P
Have fun with the new oven.

I had a cousin fly over to watch the Port/Eagles match - long way to come to see your team get beaten ;) ;) Nice to see you tip with your head, not your heart like my Mum does. :-)) :-))  Will probably make lots more cookies now with the new oven but probably will give more away than keep for ourselves as we tend not to snack much. Have to keep an eye on fat intake >:( >:(  Am going to have another try at breadmaking though - not had a great deal of success there, apart from the fruit loaf  steamed in the varoma which was great.

Thanks for the replies.

I like your recipe Brazen might try that.

I do have a freezer dough recipe, it's a bulk one and makes millions of biscuits from one batch.  Really handy to have in the freezer to fill up a space in the oven.  Haven't done it for ages must try and adapt it to TMX when it arrives, but it wouldn't fit in the bowl I don't think.

Thanks again
