Do you pre warm your thermoserver
« on: October 03, 2013, 08:34:45 am »
I don't use my thermoservers all that much and find they don't keep the food as hot as other people say. I'm now wondering if maybe I should be pre warming them with boiling water first. I do if I'm using them for yoghurt but don't think I have when just keeping food warm. I would be interested to hear what others do.

I'm not usually organised for pre-warming...but I do use mine all the time. Usually just for 20 minutes after the food has cooked, I do a little tidy of the kitchen and then we eat (and people serve themselves). If I know the food will be needed a while later, I will pre warm. I use my larger oval thermoserver the most.  I'd really like a 1 litre thermoserver, but they seem to be as rare as hens teeth.

Having said I pre warm - I sold my thermoserver as GF gave me 2 much better thermo-warmers/servers with seal tight lids - I pre warm these too though.

I pre-warm, although they say you don't need to with the thermoservers.

I don't unless I know the food will be in there some time before we need it.

It's a bit of a mix isn't it? I didn't pre warm them tonight. I have two 1 litre ones.

I always pre-warm my thermoservers and I also put an oven mit over the top aswell to keep it extra hot. Works really well.

WOH! NEVER PUT THE THERMOSERVER IN THE OVEN!! IT MAY EXPLODE!!!

It has a cavity of air which will expand when heated, so there is a possibility that it may explode if heated in the oven. I just pour boiling water from the kettle into mine.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.
