Another newbie from Canberra

Hi Everyone,

I'm Melinda, and I live just outside of Canberra.  I've owned my Tmx for about a year and a half now, however I hadn't used it a lot except for smoothies and soups.  Then a couple of weeks ago I made the Thai Red Chicken curry from the EDC, in desperation as I didn't know what else to make for dinner that night and I luckily had all the ingredients!  Since realised how easy it was I've been making sure I use it a lot more, and converting a lot of my current recipes over.

Welcome Mel B. I am so glad you have started using your thermomix for other things. There are heaps of recipes on here that are really lovely. Lots of people put up photos of their food too so that is more inspiration.

I've used it three times today.....  Definitely loving it a lot more than I was.

At one point I was considering selling it, now I'm planning to take it away with us on holidays.  Actually, taking it with me saves it from going on a removal van (we're moving to Perth in eight weeks) and will also feed us while at the in-laws (they're a very DIY family when it comes to cooking.....).

I Melinda, welcome to the forum.  I'm so pleased to see you are using your Thermomix a lot more now, it's capable of so much and is a waste of money if it is not put to good use on a daily basis.

Hi Gert, I noticed in your welcome to Melinda that she puts her thermy on it's side when travelling, this is the first time I have heard of this, why is this so. The reason I'm asking is because I take thermy with me when I travel south in Perth.

There's some discussion on this blog Augusta and it explains in the comments why and when the TMX should be laid on it's side.

I did not know this  until my Thermothingy has  to go to hospital and the consultant  was horrified when I went to put it in her car on the floor of the back of the front eat. She immediately turned it on it' side and when  it came back to me after repair I made note of it being packaged in the original box on it's side  so as not to damage the weighing feet. If you ere travelling in a caravan  I would think that so long as it is tethered  it would be fine. Never slide it along the benchtiop either but lift and position.

I've bought the Tmx bag to carry it in.  I had no idea that it was meant to go on it's side - having said that, I haven't yet worked out how it's meant to all pack in the carry bag as there were no instructions with it.

Welcome Melinda there are a few of us from Canberra on the forum
With the travel bag, there is a foam part the goes under the tmx to raise the feet so they don't hold the weight during transportation ... hope that helps a bit
