knocked it down, and started the two hours again, but it is a binner, did not rise again, and is not sounding hollow on tapping.
will be pantry wraps for lunch tomorrow!

Think if you had baked it in a hot oven it may have been ok.

JE, a couple of weeks ago, I put double the yeast into the bread recipe, by mistake. When it pushed the lid off the pot I realized what I had done. Fortunately I had the oven on so quickly put mini crockery part containing bread into oven. It was ok but not brilliant.

As soon as I saw this yesterday morning I had to give it a go. I initially had the slow cooker on "stew" instead of "slow cook" for a little while which created a tough crust on the base
When I put the bread under the grill to brown splotches of incinerated grime from a few recent roasts fell on top of the bread
Obviously haven't used/cleaned the grill for a while.
Even after all that, the loaf minus the base and splotches was still pretty good and is now all gone. (The chooks loved the tough base).
Brilliant Chookie and Judy. Thanks

Good Djinni, another happy Forum Member. I cook on high in SC. They are all different so need to experiment a little.

Was entirely user error Chookie
. I misread the symbols. Next time should be fine (providing I clean the grill element)

Just copying this from my post in fruit bread.
I was just cruising and reading and wanted to make a loaf of bread in my slow cooker as you girls have been very clever to do but I don't need any bread. In my effort to reduce the pantry of dubious goods I discovered a 375 gm packet of very ordinary mixed fruit and since. JulieO is back posting her great photos I thought I would combine her fruit loaf with chookies method in the slow cooker just to see if I could "do it". The dough is still in the Thermothingy rising. I had no mixed spice so added a bit more of the cinnamon and nutmeg plus some mace and ginger . I tossed the whole packet of fruit in.
Now I must check out achookwoman's method.
Will post a pic when done.
Gert
In the slow cooker with egg wash on top. Hope the egg does not cook separately.
Sticky dough.

I think it will be a beauty chookie. Rising nicely. Smells devine. Will check it after 1.30 hours.

After 2 hours 10 minutes on high the internal temperature reached 208F and I could see the bottom on one side turning a bit dark so removed and glued it.
The proof will be seen when it cools which is very painfully slow in coming.

Looks about the same shape and size of mine in the large SC. Will be interested to hear how it is.

It cooked a wee bit unevenly and was a bit squishy in the middle I dared not leave it in any longer as it was getting a bit burned on the bottom on one end. Maybe double the baking paper next time. The flavour was great but I agree. Julieo that the lemon peel added nothing.
It was more like a huge hot cross bun than a bread and tomorrow I will toast some .
DH loves it and the flavour is great. I will make it again.
Must now try a normal loaf in the SC as was so easy.
Good fun.
Recommend home made butter.

Gert, this is interesting. I found with the mini SC, I had to reduce the amount of fruit by a third.
