About our probable London trip
« on: March 11, 2014, 10:51:59 pm »
Hi everyone

Today I'd like to ask your opinions about something not related to Thermie  ;)

We are planning to visit London towards the end of October with a group of friends.
Some of them bought tickets for an NFL match.
The rest of us instead are not interested in that match and we prefer sightseeing.

My husband and I definitely want to visit Harry Potter museum. We read all the books and all the movies so we are very interested in that. I hope we won't be the only adults though :)

We have only 2 days and a half so I am trying to make a priority list.

Where would you recommend us to see as main places, museums, attractions..?
Would you advise us to get London Pass or something similar for transportation and visits?

Thank you all in advance...

The hop on hop off bus tours are great with a running commentary as you see the sights. you can choose the circuits with the attractions you wish to see and get off at any of those stops, then jump back on when you have finished to continue on the circuit.

That's very exciting, I am envious.  I don't know London but my best advice is to simply enjoy it and have a great time.  I am sure you will hear from CC and DJ before long with lots of ideas as well.

I sgree with CP, we only had the day in London the first time we were there and found we covered a lot in that short time using the hop on hop off double decker bus.
I am very envious and would pop back much more frequently if it wasnt quite so far.

Oohhhhh....London is so vibrant and fun. We visited the city donkey years ago, before Harry Porter appeared :)

Just don't do what we did. Watch theatre on the day you arrive. We missed out on most of Les Miserables in fab seats cos we nodded off :D

Book a show, on second night  ;D
the London eye,
The Tower of London and the Crown Jewels.
The changing of the guard ( free),
Madame Tussaud's if you like waxworks.
Natural history museum if you like natural things, or the
Victoria and Albert museum if you like culture.
British museum if you like archeology,
Harrods, and also Oxford street for shopping.
Trip on the river.

It depends really on your interests and ages of the party of visitors.

When you know what you are interested in then the travel part can be worked out. The on off bus is good as our the dedicated bus tours.

It may be that as a resident we have one idea, and others who have visited may have better ideas. Good luck with it all!

If you are traveling around London invest in an "Oyster Card". It's easy to buy and use ;)

Harry Potter World is out of London. You will have to travel there by train,so will need a little planning.I recommend you book as it's very busy.
