Help please!
« on: April 21, 2014, 12:15:51 am »
I ordered a cabbage in the F&V order before Easter and I swear it is the biggest cabbage I have seen in my entire life :o :o :o

So far we have had Chelsea's Chow mien, coleslaw, corned beef and cabbage, minestrone and more coleslaw. There is just under half left. Tonight will be fried rice (with cabbage of course)  ;D

It is a a beautiful cabbage and I don't want to waste it so would love your favourite cabbage recipes please  :)

TIA
Gayle xx

Hi Gayle - I've taken a small portion of cabbage and hung it up in the chook pen.  They love it - ;D

Or else this is nice . . http://allrecipes.com.au/recipe/1637/garlicky-cabbage-soup.aspx or

Your cabbage is probably not big enough now to do any cabbage roll recipe Gayle but here's a couple of links to Neil Perry's Potato & Cabbage Gratin.  I've done the first one and I know Hally has done the second one which I'd like to try some day myself.

Then there's the Malaysian stir fried cabbage recipe on the forum which I love.

Stir fried cabbage with glass noodles sounds interesting too.

Finely shredded in Spring rolls.  If you wrap it well in plastic wrap it will lasts for weeks in the fridge.

My first thought was cabbage rolls too.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

Thank you all so much  :-* :-* :-*
Great ideas.  Decided it's the Simple soup, Malaysian stir fry (don't know how I missed that one) and a potato/cabbage gratin and that should be the end of this cabbage.

Have made cabbage rolls in the past by the fussy eater in the house (DH) didn't like them  >:( but I have saved a slow cooker version to try with the next cabbage  ;D

I have never made spring rolls. Must look for a recipe to try
Thanks again girls. I love this forum  :) :) :)

I just looked at the simple soup recipe Gayle and I'm going to make that one too  ;D

Whizzed half recipe up in the TMX, this is Mum's batch.  I added 45g grated parmesan once the soup had been blitzed and it was certainly worth making. Thanks for the link GF.
