Hi from Finland
« on: April 30, 2014, 06:42:37 pm »
Hi there, from across the world (I'm assuming many from Australia here?)

I am a total Thermmix newbie, never seen one in person and don't know of anyone owning one.... Mine is in the mail though, from a distributor in Germany! :) hopefully I'll have it early next week.

Meanwhile I've been reading everything I can find... But one thing that seems impossible to get, since there are no distributos in my country, is the Everyday cook book. The Australian site let me put it in my shopping basket, but there is no overseas shipping option. Well, maybe one will show up on ebay with international shipping...

I've already decided to start off my Thermomix experience with making rice milk, and a mince&rice meal :) I will be saving lots of money if my son drinks the home made rice milk :D

Welcome to the forum Nicci. :)
You could try buying the EDC from UK Thermomix Head Office. Contact them, they are a friendly bunch of people.
Have a look at CP's Favourites List of tried and tested recipe from the forum.
Have fun cooking when your TM arrives.

Thank you for the hints, and with links included. I just sent off an email to the UK site.

Welcome to the forum, Nicci.  From the sounds of your post you know our forum pretty well already - there is always someone here that will be able to help you if you get stuck with anything.  Hopefully you will get a copy of the EDC but, to be honest, I hardly ever look in mine when this forum is here with all its myriad recipes and, if I need any support I know I can always get it here ... sometimes within minutes, sometimes a little longer.

Enjoy your TMX when it arrives, it's a great machine.

Welcome to the forum Nicci. I'm sure once your friends see what can do with the TMX they will all want one.
Apart from this fantastic forum, this is a list of websites and blogs that have TMX recipes.

Hi nicci, I see our wonderful forum members have been giving plenty of advice this morning already so that gives you an idea of how helpful and friendly they are.  I think you need the basic book, especially when you haven't even seen the machine and will be going it alone with no delivery demo.  There are quite a few YouTube TMX videos, just google 'thermomix YouTube videos' and have a look at some of them to give you an idea on how this machine works.

Just remember less is best when doing chopping in the Thermomix otherwise you will have mush before you know it.  I find some times in recipes or books are too long eg I chop an onion, cut in half for a medium size for only 2sec/speed 5 as I like some texture in my vegies.

You will have plenty of questions to ask, so fire away - someone will be here to give you the answer.  Good luck and happy TMX cooking.  I agree, you will be the envy of your friends once they see what this machine an do.
