yogurt flavouring?
« on: June 10, 2014, 10:04:29 am »
So i just made my first yogurt, but all the recipes I've found so far say to add vanilla and sugar at the start, not the end.
How can I best flavour my raw yogurt?  I have berries, vanilla paste and honey - I was thinking just plain vanilla, but ... help!

I make yogurt every week.
I make it in the thermomix but pour it into individual serving size glass jars to ferment.
I put my flavouring into the bottom of each jar.
I use home made jam or honey usually.
Sometimes I sprinkle cinnamon on top.
If I have fresh berries etc. I put them on top when it has been chilled.
You can put nutella etc on the bottom of the jar also.
I ferment mine for 12 hours and the individual jars work really well and are a single serve.
I love home made yogurt and the thermomix makes it so easy.
I use super kitchen machine's recipe from her website. I think it's Valeries recipe.
I will look for the link.

I do it so because I prefer to have plain yogurts I can eat with flavourings or jam/honey and I can use by cooking (Curries, chili con carne...)

But from time to time, I put 2 tsps jam in the jar before pouring the mix milk/ferment(yogurt). It works fine.

I often use stewed fruit in my yoghurt. I especially love add ing a little dried fruit to the yoghurt about 24 hours before I want to eat it. The fruit swells up and it tastes delicious.

That sounds great cookie1.
I am going to try that idea.
I have some beautiful dried nectarines.
They should be yummy.
