Have you been to a demo Dee?  There are specific amounts of water and pasta to use, the recipe book that comes with the machine will have all the details for that as well as rice.  If you leave the MC at an angle or place the steaming basket over the hole in the lid instead, that will prevent the boil over.

Hey guys,

Sorry if this isn't the right place to ask but I thought I'd post here anyway.

I'm waiting for a guy to get back to me about the TM5 (my friend works as a head chef somewhere and got a contact from the TM rep... apparently he's high up etc). It's been a week and I haven't heard anything so I'm torn between waiting longer for the call or just reaching out to a consultant and getting the TM5 as soon as possible.

My main question is, what besides the unit do you expect to get with purchase? An thermosaver, extra thermosaver, extra bowl etc? I'm fairly certain it'll just be the unit but if there are extras floating around I'd like to know that I have some confidence in asking for them :)

Cheers,

I don't think you get anything currently and maybe for awhile. They'll be getting plenty of sales without having to entice people with "gifts" just because it's new. Plus if the rumours are true and the unit is going to be $2500 after the intro price I think people would rather save $500 than get some free stuff. Some consultants will throw something extra though, mine gave me the cleaning brush (which I was thinking of getting!).

Thank you so much JudyDawn  :)

I wonder if anyone can answer this question - one of the ladies at work saw the TM5 in action on the weekend, they were doing a huge cook up for a charity event and needed to use it to cook some pasta. She saw it boil right over the jug and over the unit, which has freaked her out from buying one. Could this have been user error (i.e., are there specific instructions on the amount of water/pasta you should put in?).

I have never owned a thermomix and I'm looking to buy the TM5 next month, just trying to do some research because $2k is such a lot of money for me!

Thank you  :)

I find it strange that anyone would cook pasta in large amounts in a Thermomix for a charity event and would like to see that for myself . Very odd.

True Gert.  It doesn't really do large amounts of anything. Hope the holiday is continuing to be fun.

Good on you Dede.

Someone just sent me this .

"Have no idea if it is true but it does sound like something that GM would do. From a very reliable source. Another piece to the puzzle that is TM AU-
Good Morning,
Thank you for the post regarding action to take. I had a call from XXXXXXXXX yesterday, and they advised me that Thermomix are suing one of their leading consultants. She was asked on Facebook by a friend if there was a new model coming out, she replied there may be and in turn has been fired and in court.
This stands in line with the deception and if the consultants did know, of course they would have been scared to be honest."

I saw it too Jen. People still seem to be complaining though. Seems like a good offer to me.
