Having seen a post for a single serve of porridge steamed in the veroma, I decided to try it. I normally cook it in a saucepan and add the want really a recipe in the post I saw, I decided to use my usual recipe
1/3 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup full cream milk
1/3 cup water
pinch of salt
Place all ingredients in a bowl that will fit on the veroma tray with the lid on
Pour 1 litre boiling water into thermomix bowl, place varoma on top
Veroma, speed 2, 15 mins
Was lovely and creamy
So nice not to wash up a saucepan,

I hate washing a porridge saucepan or the TM bowl even Penny. I always cook up a batch that lasts me 4 days and even then it is usually only 1/2 a recipe as I only have a small bowl. That sounds an easy, clean way to cook porridge.

Porridge is about the only thing I use the microwave for as I like it sort of undercooked. I put 1/4 cup oats in a bowl, cover with some water and cook on med. for two minutes. I then add seeds and sultanas and maple syrup then eat.

I will give this a go when i get home, I also do not like cleaning the bowl after making porridge but I do love the way the TMX makes it.

I've never tried thermomix porridge. I cook mine in the microwave.

I cook mine in the microwave as well, only 3 minutes maximum (depending on the oats)

Thanks Penny, will try this in the morning. Interesting idea... I presoak my oats, but otherwise use the same ingredients as you, without the salt. I always use the TM, clean it on automatic pilot, but like the idea of not having the bowl to clean.

I made a double quantity - realised I do use another 1/3 cup water per serve for soaking the oats. It worked really well, after giving it a good stir and cooking for 20 mins. Will try tomorrow with not boiling the water before adding to the TM,, but increasing the time to 30 mins. Very easy cleanup, can turn on the TM when I turn on the coffee machine.
Thanks Penny

Glad you like it ElleG.
I soaked my oats in the milk and water overnight and then cooked it for 15 mins this morning, really enjoyed it.

I cooked the double quantity of oats in a bowl in the varoma, 1 litre tap water, 30 mins varoma, speed 2. Took 2 mins to put on, stayed in bed after the alarm went off. It's cold today! The porridge cooks well, I give it a good stir, and it's creamy. Very impressed how easy it is and how easy the clean up is.
