How do you clean your thermomix brush?
« on: July 07, 2014, 07:50:38 am »
I have recently bought a new brush and don't really want it to get too gunky like the last one. How do you all clean your brushes please?  I don't have a dishwasher other than DH.  :)

I'd like to know too...
I once accidentally left mine in the dishwasher when I was running one of those cleaning cycles using a Finish product.  The TMX brush ended up with a blue tinge that is reminiscent of a toilet brush,  just a little bit off putting!

I'm no help, I put mine in the dishwasher - my scrubby goes in there too.

Perhaps soak it in a mild bleach solution?

Yes - mine goes in the dishwasher along with the Wettex and anything else that stands still.  I have in the past soaked other brushes in bleach and then rinsed thoroughly with no adverse reactions
You haven't failed at anything until you stop trying.

Yep dishwasher here too, tho DH has also picked it up with the tea towels and put it through the washing machine too... :-)) (which apart from a bit of clonking sounds from the machine), it came out very nice and clean.  ;D ;D

Thanks. I may try the washing machine. I could put it in a bag to try and stop the clunking round.

I put mine in the dishwasher about once a week, after I have sat it in a cup of bleach/water mix. Doesn't quite get the turmeric stain out, but I know it is clean!
And I admit that I am terribly anal about my dishcloths and I must use 3 or 4 a day, I soak them in a bucket of napisan and wash. I have a lot of dishcloths!

If there is anyone else out there in thermomix world who doesn't have a dishwasher, I have found the best way to clean your brush.
Put 50% vinegar and 50% water in a tall container. Stir it through and soak the bristles of the brush in it over night. Then give it a good wash under strongly running water. It comes up as good as new.
