Recipe Review: Beef in Stout British Isles on a Plate page 60

This is a delicious stew.I used Guinness as suggested in the recipe.DH commented that the beef was really tender. I don't think it would serve 6 hungry people though.

Made this today from the Chip. Delicious.
Also don't think it will serve 6 unless served with lots of extra veggies.
Would make good pie filling.

It is delicious.  We only got 4 serves from it the other night when DH made it.

I agree Chookie it would make a great pie filling.  I plan to do that soon, I think I'll thicken the sauce a bit, as ours was a bit too runny for a pie.

Now that it is cooling down I must remember to make it.

I am going to play around with this recipe to make it for pie filling.
The best pies we have had have been a mixture of mince as well as small pieces of steak.
Will let you know how I go.

I've sent an email to HO (Australia) asking if they will be selling this book at any stage.  I'm sure I'm not the only one that has inquired. See what they say. :)

I made this today for my DH for the next couple of days plus more for the freezer.  I used a full can of Guinness (440ml) and after trimming my meat there wasn't as much there as I would have liked, so have made a note to buy more than stated next time as there's enough gravy for it.

Cooking times were spot on and the meat was so tender.  The little taste I had was delicious.  Another keeper.  :D

Julie, I had the same problem with the quantity of meat.  I have made this twice now and we love it.
