Thermomix ChocBeet Cream
Ingredients:
400 g beetroot, cut into chunks
(don’t bother peeling,
just wash and remove top and root tip)
50 g orange juice
pinch salt
100 g milk or dark chocolate
200 ml cream (35%)
Method:
Place the beetroot in the TM bowl and chop for
20 seconds on speed 8
.
Add orange juice and salt and cook for
25 minutes at 90°C on speed 1.
Add chocolate to TM bowl and blend for
15 seconds on speed 8
.
Remove mixture to a bowl and allow to cool while cleaning TM bowl.
Make sure the bowl is clean and dry. Place
Butterfly
on blades and place cream into TM bowl. Whip for
30 - 40 seconds on Speed 4
, until the cream is holding shape.
Add beetroot and chocolate mixture and whip for
10 -15 seconds on Speed 3
until mixed well.
Serve as is, or cool in fridge before serving.

JD - I made this using some precooked beetroot I had leftover from another recipe (from those vacuum packs now available in supermarkets). I had enough to make 1/3 of this recipe, enough for a nice serving for myself. I just blitzed the beetroot, added the orange juice and heated to 90
o
then followed the rest of the recipe. Delicious, I loved it.

I noticed this on your blog the other day, Jeff.
Verrry interesting!
I like chocolate. I like beetroot. The colour would be wonderful and I'm prepared to believe it will work.
I ill give it a try!

Poor MrsT went through a bit of a chocolate and beetroot "cleansing" session. The beetroot and chocolate mix was originally for the croissants that I made and filled. But some was left over and so i whipped up some cream and mixed it through - I told her that it was strawberry and chocolate. She loved it, but sighed very lodly when I revealed the real ingredients, oh well - that's the life of a food fanatic's taste panel.

My parents used to grow beetroot (I don't think I have ever eaten anything except that from a can) and both ended up with funny coloured urine (sorry about this!!). Each though they had bladder cancer but kept quiet about it for a few days before confessing to each other of their fears. Off to the doctor for check-ups where they discovered the cause of their red urine. Just a warning in case people start making some of Thermomixer's recipes using beetroot.

OK alioop - the Croissant Recipe - which I have
also posted here
- is available for scrutiny/comment/criticism here:
http://thermomix-er.blogspot.com/2009/08/thermomix-croissants.html
The top one is stuffed with beetroot and chocolate, there is a sweet potato stuffing, asparagus and cheese and a peppers, eggplant and tomato croissant.

Gosh JD. Memories of the beetroot/chocolate overload that poor Annie suffered. I saw the competition on FB & smiled - puddings, creams, fillings, ...... better not start again. Good luck mixers . xx
