Review of Quince Paste from In The Mix 1 Page 211
« on: April 09, 2017, 12:30:26 pm »
This is our beloved Thermomixer's recipe (Jeff Brady) and it was good enough to make it into Dani's first book.  I've just made my second batch of this recipe, it is written simply and following it to a T it turned out perfectly.  You will find Jeff's recipe here on his blog http://thermomix-er.blogspot.com.au/search?q=Quince+paste

I loved this recipe. However my quince supplier has stopped supplying me so I haven't made it for a while.

99% of it will be given away Boot, the Probus ladies will all get one at our next meeting.  By then I'll have made another 2 batches for other people.  I've spent hours tonight looking at other recipes for quinces.  I got some ideas but this recipe is the easiest to make and get rid of.

Thanks girls.  So you didn't even buy 1 tub for 20 cents Margaret?  It must have been very close to or past it's use by date for that price.

Ooops Judy, I meant the quinces themselves not the paste

We went to the Spud Shed this morning where fruit and Vegies are cheaper than normal. I feel that the quality suffers though. They have excellent prices for milk and yoghurt too, which is why we go. However I bought so e quinces to stew, $4.99/kg.

Great paste Judy.  Have you a tree seeing you are making a lot?  I managed to collect some from the side of the road that I still have to do.  We love them stewed with custard as well.  Where did you get your containers from?  I usually pour into a slice tin and then vacum seal & put into the freezer.

I have a friend who gives me fruit from her garden Trudy.  The containers were also given to me by a friend many years ago and I've only got a few left now so unless I buy more from eBay I will have to set my next lot in a slice tin like you do. I give 99% of what I make away so those little containers are perfect. If you're looking for them online they are known as 50 ml sauce containers with a lid.

I think there is a shop in the Adelaide Market that sells all sizes of those containers.  Think it's near Goodies & Grains.  Next time I get into the city I must remember to check it out!

Trudy and Judy you are correct. The containers are available at the Adelaide Central Market. The shop is in the Central Market Plaza opposite Nana's Bakery near the souvenir shop.  It has an amazing array of containers that you never knew you needed!
