query on motor life of Thermx TM31
« on: May 27, 2019, 04:04:25 am »
Hi Guys,

I have had my TM 31 about 12 years or so.  I am noticing that when I go to speed 5 now.. it seems to sound like it is speeding up and slowing down a little.. going back and forth, rather than smooth sounding.  yet it seems to work fine.

Just wondering if anyone has any experience with how the motor slowly dies, or how long they last etc.  It is still working fine.. but not sure if it is slowly dying after 12 years of a good pummelling ;D

Any experiences/advice appreciated

Cheers
Squirrel

Squirrel my 31 seems to be about the same age as yours. The scales have gone on mine. It also seems to go fast and slow like yours. Apart from that it seems fine. Mine also gets worked to death, although I have eased up o n it a bit since I have had the 5. I know I should take it in for a check over, but I am hesitant as I'm not sure what it will cost me. I guess I could ask for a quote.
AS you say it seems to work ok though.

Interesting Cookie1.  I have had to get the panel replaced at on stage as I wore out the buttons.  It was a bit costly as you have to send it over to WA at the mercy of their repair costs.  As you, I am now hesitant to ask them as they will ask me to send it off again.. and also.. I then have to be without it for that duration.  That is what probably deters me more.. ha ha

My front buttons are very worn too. I’m lucky as I live in WA and can take my machine out to them. It’s a bit of a drive but cheaper than courier.

Mine’s 11 years old and my buttons are still great. Scales haven’t worked for ages but that doesn’t worry me. It doesn’t get the work it used to but as long as they can fix it, it will do me.

Squirrel, most states have there own repair place , you would still have to post it . I do remember that when they service it they can tell you how many hours it has done ! You may have done the blades , then thats all you may need . I had my TM31 for a very long time too .

The 31 is definitely a good machine.
