She'll certainly allow a Thermomixer - but she might confiscate his Themomix  :-)) :-))

For anybody who is into preserving (or just starting out like me :D) I would really recommend the book "A Year in a Bottle" by Sally Wise.  Sally is a Tasmanian lady who makes the most amazing preserves.  I have learnt so much about sterilising bottles, setting jams, pickling veg, making chutneys, relishes and sauces etc from reading this very practical book.  I bought my copy secondhand off ebay, but you can also buy them from the ABC ebay store (or just google the title and find an online bookstore).

I agree with you Chelsea it is a very good book. I actually have the ABC slow cooker book too and that is fantastic.

I was tempted to buy the slow cooker book too Cookie, but it rarely gets used these days.  I wonder if the novelty of my TMX will ever wear off!!!

I shouldn't think so. I've had mine 14 months and still find what it can do amazing.  If the novelty does wear off someone will post an amzing recipe on here that will get us all inspired again.

I received the Fast and Easy Cooking book from UK Thermomix in yesterday's mail.  I'm surprised at how rapidly it got here.
I ordered it on January 19 and got a confirmation of my payment (via PayPal) on the 20th. and received the book on the 27th.  Excellent service!

I'm considering the Indian cookbook but will wait awhile as there are so many interesting recipes in this F&E cook book that it will keep me busy for quite a while.

Is anyone able to order from Thermomix UK? You don't have to be a consultant?
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

Yes anyone can.  Check out their website for contact details - they respond very quickly to emails and are so helpful.  I gave them my order and details via email and then made a quick phonecall to them with my credit card details.  :)

This is not a TMX book but all mums who are having trouble getting their children to eat vegies should have this one.  I went through it today whilst babysitting down at DD's place and have written out heaps of the recipes.  It is called Deceptively Delicious by Jessica Seinfeld, yes wife of the Seinfeld chap.   They have hidden pureed vegies in them & would be so easy to convert, things like

rice balls with sweet potato
scrambled eggs with cauli
hot cocoa with sweet potato
doughnuts with pumpkin & sweet potato
carrot & spinach brownies
carrot & cauli muffins
lemon raspberry cupcakes with pumpkin & beetroot
banana marshmallow dip with pumpkin
blueberry cheesecake cupcakes with yellow squash
& spinach
choc fondue dip with avocado & carrot
gingerbread spice cake with broccoli & carrot
chocolate pudding with avocado
choc cupcakes with avocado & cauliflower
Choc peanut butter dip with carrot
+ more including main meals.
I loved reading this book and applaud her methods of getting her children to eat things that are good for them without knowing it.  It is going to take me forever to get through this list to convert, cook and post so if you are interested in these recipes I would suggest you get hold of this book somehow.  Perhaps even see if the library has it and copy some out yourself. It is brilliant.

That was the book that Jessica Seinfeld was in the news about (plagiarism).  I don't think she realised that the chap who actually developed the recipes would noticed that she copied them all and made a mint out of them!!!  I think some of the recipes are great (like the chickpea cookies) but some have such a teeny amount of veg in them that it is barely worth going to the trouble of preparing them.

Did he take her to the cleaners Chelsea? I certainly wouldn't cook up 1/2 cup of a vegie to puree and add to her recipes but it could be done quite simply by making sure you had some leftovers.  There are some nice recipes there which I intend doing for DH & myself - and we eat any vegie!!  Of course, she cooks, purees and freezes vegies so only has to pull out a packet when needed.  Is this where the chickpea and choc chic cookies came from? I saw that in there but didn't copy it because I already  have done it from the forum.

I do question the nutritional value of some of the Deceptively Delicious recipes, once the vegies have been cooked, pulverised and cooked again any goodness must be negligible in a lot of the recipes
I had the book but returned it, the other similar book is called The Sneaky Chef I think.  I guess Jessica having contacts like Oprah Winfrey was able to promote her book a little bit more and make a motza!
