This recipe worked out fine, however personally I sort of like a roughish texture - so I have crushed up roughly at the end when adding all the other ingredients. Also modified the recipe to my oldie and used 175g butter, and 2 x tablespoons of cocoa (intead of 1/4 cup) registered 5g but I don't know if I can trust that so maybe 10g cos its not that much different

I made this yesterday using 45g of weetbix crumbs from the bottom of the box  I weighed a whole weetbix and it was 15g. so easy to remember when using the crumbs.

There is something seriously wrong with this recipe. It seems to evaporate in the container I put it in.  Only crumbs left.  As soon as I make it it vanishes right before my eyes.  Even the boss turns into a little kid and cant stop eating it.

Seriously this is so good and so easy.  Next time I will have to make 1 and a half times the recipe to fit in my lamington tin perfectly.

thanks for sharing

LOL. I know the problem it always evaporates here too.

LOL  :D :D
You had me worried for a minute there.  It's always been such a reliable recipe for me!
However, I do believe that the vanishing act it performs is quite a common problem.  ;)

I need to  know this too. What type of coconut?  Also can you use oatabix (same as weetabix but made with oats ....)

Brunette, it would be dessicated coconut for this recipe and Nik, if Oatabix is the equivalent of Weetbix then that would be fine.

Well, they're the same shape and made by the same people but they taste FOUL!  I just thought they might be OK in a snack bar as a change from weetabix because I sometimes feel guilty giving the children so much wheat ......

If I give it a go, I'll report back :)

Nik, that description of Oatabix gave me a good chuckle! I can't wait to see if they taste any better smothered with butter and cocoa!.

I just made these and took out the coconut as I dont think mine are too keen on coconut and put in almonds.  Ds1 says he doesn't like it!

How can you NOT like it  :-))

I was one of those people who loved/love milk arrowroot biscuits with hot water over them and then milk. That is my contribution to weird. It still is a very comforting food. :P :P

I remember as a kid my mum giving me bread, hot water and condensed milk ???  It was actualy quite nice and very comforting on a cold winters day.

Oh and a great recipe Amanda, have son who loves weetbix and he is going to love these!

Made this today using only 100g butter and 1/3 cup agave syrup instead of sugar. I iced them with the icing suggested by Judy Dawn at http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=7852.msg111037#msg111037

I liked it! Will have to wait to get the kids' opinions.

I'm going to give these a go with oatibix as I can't eat wheat. I'll let you know whether it still tastes good.
As my picture shows, I've suddenly become younger :-)  DD was of the opinion that her picture should be here, not mine!

Well the kids seem happy enough eating them! One of them even tried to convince me that they are OK to eat for breakfast seeing as they are weetbix...
