Brownie Milk - link supplied
« on: October 17, 2009, 04:27:49 am »
Recipe Name: Brownie Milk
Website link: http://www.recipecommunity.com.au/recipes/brownie-milk/16922

Made this today, perfect replacement for chocolate flavourings for kids milk.  Very easy, and no nasties.  I used rapadura sugar, so has a slightly malty flavour.  Made just a little too much to store in a 275ml sauce bottle, so used the leftovers up straight away.  Yum.

Usage - 2 teaspoons per 1 cup milk as a start, more or less to personal taste.

I've just made this, it's really yummo! DS and I are enjoying a chocolate milkshake together now. :D

I think I'll try to make the coffee variation next.

Might be just the thing to wean the kids of store bought milk!

Recently we had a picnic in the park.  Previously we would have stopped at the shop and bought 4 flavoured milks = at least $10.  But I just mixed it at home and packed some cups.  Much healthier, and cheaper!

I made this the other day too. No one could tell the difference from the real thing. I halved the sugar in the original recipe.

Really?  Half the sugar?  I'll have to try decreasing mine - I think I'd have to go gradually, as DH would notice otherwise.

It still tasted very sweet. But then we don't take sugar in our tea or coffee.

DH's favourite "cleaning" job is to get the dregs out of the syrup bottle by adding milk, swishing and consuming.  It's a bit like cleaning the spatula from icing etc.

I made this today and it was really good. Think I will reduce the sugar next time too as it was a bit sweet, but overall really yum. I think it would make a good hot choc too, heat the milk in the microwave and then add the mix.

DH makes hot ones regularly so it definitely works.  Also makes a great natural yoghurt flavour for the kids for a special treat, or over banana, or pancakes, or anything else you might otherwise use chocolate syrup on.
