EDC Vanilla ice cream
« on: November 14, 2009, 07:04:34 am »
I made this today for a dinner party tonight.  I always use the ice cream maker to churn as it does such a great job, so it is in the freezer now!
The ice cream tastes great - very creamy and rich.
I used Queens Vanilla Bean Paste instead of vanilla essence, just because I think that it is much nicer, and next time I will cut down the sugar somewhat - it is very sweet.
Aside from that, it seems to be a great recipe and it compares well with other vanilla ice cream recipes that I looked up.
I recommend it! :)

Mine were from a co-op.. ended up at around $10.60 for 100g (around 17/18) ;)

Yes, this is delicious.  And a great base for all the ice-cream based desserts that require "softened ice-cream".  I made a double batch  yesterday for this exact purpose.  Delicious!

I have made a double batch of this, cooked separately and put into the same container to set and 6hrs later it is still mostly liquid, have had it in the deep freezer too!

Babymaker's icre cream did eventually freeze.

I found this ice cream too sweet, so I'll be reducing the sugar. Other than that, I loved it!
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

I found this very 'eggy', anyone else? I've been put off doing ice cream recipes since!

Thanks Cookie, I picked up a little second hand ice cream maker last night, and I'm now scrolling through all the recipes.

I do love that one, I add choc ripples to it to make it 'cookies and cream'....

Perhaps I needed to cook a little longer, I see the Caramel Maple Icecream and Chocolate one have rave reviews, so might try them too.

Go for it. I do rum and raisin, add ferro roche, stewed fruit. I have even added a not successful lot of mulberry jam once. I usually add a bit of vodka too so that it doens't set too hard. The latest icecream I've made in Peanut Butter.

Peanut butter looks lovely! Although, another one only I will eat  :-\ I wonder if substituting melted chocolate into that recipe would give a nice choc ice cream, I guess I should try it and report back ;)
