Does anyone have a recipe for Mock Chicken?  Or has anyone tried Mock Chicken in the Thermomix?

Have seen several recipe for Mock Turkey a while go online (googled it I think) but haven't heard of chicken...

Sorry, the Turkey is still in the huge pile of "to convert" lists....  :-))

I have a recipe but I am unsure of whether it would work in the Thermo.  Mock Chicken Sandwiches are a huge hit around here.

Hi MissJane

Welcome to the forum!  Not sure if my mock chicken recipe is the same (onion, egg, butter, tomato, cheese).  I haven't tried it, but it should be really easy in TMX.

Very roughly, I'd chop and fry the onion in TMX bowl.  Add diced tomato and cook on reverse from now on so you don't end up with mush.  There are no timings in my recipe, it's all "cook until soft" so it will be a bit of guess work.

I think this recipe would convert well.  Have a try and see how you go.  Good luck.

Welocme MissJane - I second cathy's confidence.  It would be perfect  - especially if you want the smoother textured type.

Perfect for that - so smooth you will love it.  If they prefer it chunky, then a little less processing.

We were fed mock chicken sandwiches every day for a year at boarding school. Ugh.

Funny, I've never even heard of mock chicken.  Mock fish is the only thing I know from the old days.

Strange - I love that sort of savoury stuff !!!  Do you remember Peck's spreads?  My mother used to buy them as a treat !!

I have a recipe that is real pre-cooked chicken with onion and then has a creamy sauce. Can be put on toast or rice for an easy dinner -- would this be the sort of recipe you want however it is not TM converted? Otherwise I have a recipe from a TM site that uses a whole pre-cooked chicken but you make as a spread for sandwiches?

I've no idea where the name comes from, but it's delicious.  Great on a pizza base with chicken etc, or on a melt for lunch, again with chicken, avocado, anything else.

Oh  ;D this reminded me of when I was at primary school and we used to go down to the store at the end of the road and order a mock chicken leg for lunch - it was the mock chicken mix (I never knew what was in it) and it was shaped onto a stick in the form of a chicken drumstick, crumbed and fried!! I know, sounds disgusting now...and slightly embarrassed to admit that I LOVED it! ;D ;D
