Making goats cheese?

I've recently seen a youtube tutorial on how to make soft cheese in the TM - does anyone know if the same rules could be applied to goats milk/cheese? I found some goats milk recently, and it's only just occurred to me to try.

Still waiting for my TM to arrive, just trying to plan in advance what I can do!

Pretty much the same - if it involves adding lemon juice and straining - then yes it will work.

i just tried to make goat cheese using the following recipe http://www.recipecommunity.com.au/sauces-dips-spreads-recipes/goats-cheese/27609 and it was a complete fail ended up with warm lemon goats milk.  I used UHT Living planet goats milk, follow the recipe to a t and looking at other recipes on the net didn't do anything different.

What a shame, did it start to curdle, before you strained it? I think from memory can use vinegar as well.

Kerry, I would make a comment on that thread and see if anyone else has had the same problem.  The reviews all sounded as if they had had success but maybe those who haven't just did not comment.

Kerry, I have never tried this recipe, but have made paneer cheese from the Indian Cookbook very successfully. I use goats milk and make the soft paneer recipe. Can recommend it.

I make this recipe all,the time. Always have it in the fridge and love it with chookies Gentleman's relish which tonight will be served with Haloumi fried in the Airfryer with figs.

kmw, I tried making goat's cheese a couple of years ago using goat's UHT milk as I couldn't buy fresh here.  Was a disaster too and after googling I found that you need to use fresh for it to work.  I haven't tried again even though I see that Woolies are now selling fresh goat's milk, maybe I'll have to give another go sometime. :)

Julie I make this frequently and alway use fresh  goats milk especially when it is cheap and near it's best by date. Never had a problem.

INAID I bought some from Coles this morning and I know that Woolies have it too. 

This is what to look out for near the normal milk. :)

Thanks ladies I have purchased some fresh goats milk to try again & I got mine in foodland in Adelaide. Hopefully more success next time.
