Kia Ora from New Zealand
« on: December 11, 2009, 09:51:27 pm »
Before last week I had never even heard of a Thermomix!

I was looking to replace my kenwood as I've promised it to my daughter who is setting up her first home and was thinking of getting a kitchenaid, but I also wanted a juicer so went online to see what there was available and I discovered the Thermomix. I was wow'd by all the claims of what it could do, and impressed with the clips I watched on youtube.

My youngest son is intolerance to various additives, preservatives, and salicylates, so this also seems like a wonderful machine to help me make some of the food he usually misses out on, spreads, ice treats etc. And I'm sure it will save me time both in the kitchen and in the shop as I have to read every label to see what's 'really' in that can or packet.

I had my demo yesterday which was a lot of fun, and expect my machine to be delivered next Wednesday *yay* so I'm reading through all your posts and book-marking recipes I want to try.

Thanks to everyone who is sharing their experiences, hopefully once the learning period is over and I get to being creative I can too.

Hi sourdough, welcome to the forum.  Lucky you, stumbling across this wonderful machine - bet you couldn't believe all you read about it. Happy days for youngest son with all the treats you will be able to whip up for him. Have fun and get back to us as soon as you start converting your own recipes.

Welcome to the forum.  Sure you'll find lots to help you out here.

Just play around and you'll be fine - may have lots of soups to start if you follow the times and speed in the EDC book - so, go for less time and often slower speeds and look in the top to see what's happening.

Enjoy  :-* :-* :-*

Kia Ora to you  sourdough. I have been trying to get my friend in Auckland to have a demo so be sure to spread the good word over there. Enjoy!

Thank-you all for the warm welcome  :D

I'll be sure to keep in mind the slower speeds & less time when following the EDC cookbook, cheers for the tip Thermomixer. Most of all I want to try the recipes shared here, and converting my own favourites.

Kia Ora sourdough! Hope your new toy arrives soon!
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.
