$250 Chocolate Chunk Cookies

I made only a half mixture to see what these were like. They are beautiful. They spread rather a lot and I had put mine too close together, but that was unimportant. I put some in the freezer but I don't think they will be there long. I thought with all the ingredients they may have been over the top, but no.

Tweaking
Next time I make these I won't be bothered rolling them into logs. I'll either make little balls and flatten them or simply put teaspoons of mixture on the tray.

I remember making these when the first email came around with the nonsense about Nieman Marcus. They were horrible. Obviously, someone has tweaked the 'recipe'. I'll make these now, thanks cookie!

Cookie1, you beat me.  I made these this morning.  I made a whole batch, which makes about 3 trays of biscuits - hence the suggestion to freeze some mix I guess.

How chopped were your nuts after 3 secs speed 4?  Most of my almonds were still almost whole, so I had to redo a few times.  Maybe my blades are blunt?

I put my logs in the fridge for a little while so they were easier to handle.  But like you, next time I'll just "blob and press".

I didn't notice the second 250g of chocolate until it was too late, so mine went without.  Still a delicious cookie, more everyday style then special occasion I guess.  Love the slightly chewy ones.

Cathy I needed to blitz my nuts a bit more. I've got used to adding or subtracting for things like that as my blitzing time never seems to agree with the recipe. We also like our nuts cut up a fair bit too, not in big chunks.

LOL - we need better recipes so we never miss things    - have to blame someone else.  I got home last night with bits for a dish then had a better look and one of the main ingredients slipped my mind.

Made these yesterday, they are soooooo good. I have frozen quite a bit in log form in the freezer, will be great when friends drop in for coffee, fresh baked cookies, YUM.

Are these cookies the same as the ones in the cakes section or was it changed for the festive cookbook?? 

I ran out of money at the Christmas demo and couldn't afford this one, even raided the ashtray for coin to get the rest of the books I wanted

Years ago when this recipe was printed in our newspaper, it was for about 4 times the amount of ingredients. Thank goodness someone has reduced the recipe. It is fantastic. When I used to make the original recipe in my domestic kitchen, it became a bit of a strain for my appliances as there was so much mixture. I ended up making it up, rolling into balls and when someone turned up on my door step unexpected just popped into a preheated oven. Best biscuits, but so glad to have reduced and TM'd.
