Have you ever...
« on: January 01, 2010, 03:38:04 pm »
...been so swept up with TM enthusiasm that you forget to put the rubber seal on the blades? :-[ Then you melt butter to make DS2 a birthday cake and don't even notice that most of it is on the bench rather than in the bowl. So when you finally get the cake out of the oven and out of the ring tin, it resembles nothing more than a small, chocolate U.F.O. DS6 then decides that perhaps it could be an alien party.

I'm sure these things only happen to me :D

No but it sounds like you have   :'(  :'(  Should have taken a photo for all to see. As I said to someone yesterday, you usually only make these mistakes once and it is forever etched into your mind.  Did DS2 like his cake ??? ???

I think the boys preferred the icing (peppermint)  :D but somewhere in amongst the leftover Christmas cake, pudding and trifle, it didn't matter very much ;D

After begging forgiveness from my TM, I think he's forgiven me :-*

At least you saw the funny side of things.

I don't take mine off very often Chookie, the small one on the blade never comes off - I just move it and wash around it. The lid one depends on what I have made and how much mess there is on the lid.

Chookie, I find that I hardly ever remove my seals either.  Like Judy, it depends what I've been cooking.

I remove the lid seal every time I wash the lid or put it through the dishwasher.
I found that moisture is retained under the seal if it is not washed and dried separately.

I haven't removed the seal from the blade assembly.   I do scrub it with a brush, being sure to get off any obvious debris before putting it into the dishwasher.
The one time there did appear to be something in the seam between the flange and the seal, I flossed it.  Worked fine.

Be careful putting the lid seal in the dishwasher.  Our Group Leader (the wonderful Fee) told me that the lid seal is one thing that really isn't designed for the dishwasher and will easily be ruined in it.

I wash the seal by hand.  It is the lid that goes into the dishwasher.

Thanks for this - I had no idea that the seal shouldn't go in!
I'll stop doing that now.
