Glazed Pork Fillet
«
on:
January 12, 2010, 11:28:23 am »
Name of Recipe:
Glazed Pork Fillet
Number of People:
In this house 3 serves, in a normal household probably only 2. Could be doubled though.
Ingredients:
1/2 large red onion, cut in half
15g oil
375g pork fillet, trimmed of fat, cut in half lengthways then cut into 3cm slices
125mls fresh orange juice
3 tblspns treacle
2 tspns cornflour
S & P to taste
Preparation:
Chop the onion for
2 seconds on speed 5
. Add the oil and saute on
Varoma temp for 3 mins on speed 2
.
Add the sliced pork fillet and cook on
Varoma temp, for 5 mins, Reverse, Speed 1
.
Mix the orange juice, treacle and cornflour together in a small bowl and add to the pork. Cook a further
2 mins on Varoma temp, Reverse, Speed 1
to thicken the sauce.
Tips/Hints:
Serve with steamed greens & mashed potatoes or rice. If you have the meat defatted and cut up ready, this recipe is so quick you need to have the rest of the meal cooked and kept warm in the Thermosaver. You could use the biggest pork fillet you can find and the sauce will be enough for the extra quantity of meat.

katesjoy - I had this with MJ's stuffed zucchini (minus the passata) tonight and if l wasn't so full from one of Isi's easy rolls, l'd definitely be back for seconds.
shopperviv - I tried this and it was good. Thanks! Was thinking of trying it with lemon juice sometime. And if that works, I'll do it with chicken next...perhaps that might end up tasting like lemon chicken?
VHJ - it was delicious. I used double the meat and added a splash of thick soy sauce with extra cornflour. It had a lovely flavour and all plates where cleaned. Thanks JD.
CC - We had this for supper this evening, I did use 3 Tbsp of treacle but our Tbsp (15ml). Liked by us all, thanks Judy.

Hi isi, treacle is a thick gooey substance (it looks like a very dark honey) used in baking. You can substitute it in this instance with molasses - do you have that in Portugal?

Judy, this sounds like a great easy recipe, do you think I could replace treacle with golden syrup?
Thanks, Nadine

No, don't use golden syrup Wonder, the flavour will be too overpowering.
Isi, I'm not too sure about using honey either - may not end up with the same taste as treacle or molasses.
I expected this sauce to be sweet and sickly but it wasn't so using the correct ingredient is important. It's up to you though.

Hi Isi - a couple of links -
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Treacle
and
http://www.csrsugar.com.au/ViewProduct.aspx?id=10
I'd use about the same amount of brown sugar and squeeze of lemon juice if you can't find it.

After running to about 9387768950540589 stores I DID NOT found the coveted Treacle
But I found the molasses!
So I will try this with molasses!!!!
Do You think I put the same amount?
Thank you for trying to help me on this - I am very grateful

Yes isis, the same amount of molasses - the original recipe had molasses in it but I substituted it for treacle as that is what I had in the pantry. Hope you enjoy it.
