german girl from colorado ~ hi, i am so glad i found you guys!!!
« on: February 02, 2010, 04:17:15 pm »
hello everybody,
i want to say hi and i want to introduce myself.

i am isabelle, 36 years old. i was born in germany and lived there for 33 years. since dec. 2006 i am in colorado, usa.

in germany i want to a thermomix show at my friends house, i did not want to go! but she said i should do her a favour and please come. well, thats what i did :). i am a big kitchen/cooking/baking girl, i just love to do all that. needless to say that after i saw this thermomix it blew me away ~ INSTATNLY! (i had the vorwerk vacuum already so i knew vorwerk is perfect for me).

i went home and told my husband: I WANT THIS THING AND I WANT IT TOMORROW *lol*. after i told him the price he asked me, if i am out of my mind. MEN!!!

i was a stay at home mommy at the time, my little boy was just 3 month old (in germany you can stay at home for 3 years with your babies and my job was saved for me after that). i called the thermomix lady and told her, i want this tm21 no matter what but i have a problem with the price (well i didnt, my hubby did!).

WELL, hihi, she told me about the program in germany and asked me: would you be interested in maby getting one for free? she did not have to tell me this twice. i wanted to know how, what and when.

i had 90 days to sell 10 thermomixes, if i did that, mine was free. the people who know me know, if i want something, i will do everything in my power to reach my goals. my husband almost fell of his chair after i told him this and all he said was: you will not sell one single thermomix in these 90 days because nobody will pay this kind of money for a kitchen machine! this even gave me a kick more and i sign up for my 90 day program.

so, what do you think? in 77 days i sold my thermomix number 10! i was proud but it was so much fun for me! it was not hard at all to show people what a great thing the tm21 is.

and guess who loved my food i cooked with the tm21? of course.... my husband (now exhusband).

i used it every day and i loved it.

in december 2006 after my divorce i packed my suitcases, my kids and cats and my 8 suitcases and left to colorado (how crazy if i think about it now. i have dual citizenship because my das is american).

since that time i cant use my thermomix anymore. the problem with the power is really a problem. i called vorwerk and they told me i cant use my german thermomix here in the us. i miss it soooo bad!

now i am thinking what i can do. does anybody have an idea? what is the price here for a tm31 and how can i buy one?

sorry for writing a book, i just wanted to let you know who i am and what a passion i have for vorwerk!

have a good day, i am so glad i found you. i was searching the internet for the tm31, thats how i found this site.

You can buy a TM31 from the Canadian suppliers with US voltage. I even seem to remember reading on this forum abouit a consultant in USA as well. http://www.easycooking.ca and http://www.thermomixcanada.ca/
Maybe you should become a consultant again in Colorado
Good luck and welcome to the forum.

I live in California and I got my TM31 last November.  I ordered it from Canada after getting the info from Helene at http://www.superkitchenmachine.com/

I ordered from the distributor  at Easy Cooking - as posted by Shayla.   They got back to me rapidly and  I ordered the TM31 on November 9, they shipped the same day and it was in my hands on November 12.  Amazing service, considering it came from Canada, where there is usually some delay in getting things across the border.

On another blog, a person who moved to the US from Italy posted this:
I solved my problem. I purchased a stepdown, step up converter 1500 watt. $ 69. Now the Bimby from Italy works perfectly.

It is like these: http://www.220-electronics.com/Transformers/trans/twowaytrans.htm  and you buy the one compatible with the wattage of your machine.

I have one that I got for a DVD player so that I could play DVDs from the UK and Europe, before the "Universal" players were available here in the US.  It worked beautifully for several years - I now have one of the later generation DVD players that play any DVDs from anywhere.   However, I'm keeping the transformer because I might buy another appliance from another country...  I am an appliance junkie. :D

Hello and welcome Isabelle,

I lived in Germany for 33 years, too  ;) Then for 5 years in the States and since 5 years in the US. I used the german TM 21 and TM 31 for many years with a transformer before I became a Canadian Consultant and switched to the Canadian TM 31. The TM 31 is 1600 CAN$ or 1530US$ and can ordered only in Canada and shipped from there. Vorwerk had only the permission to sell the TM21 in the US, not for the TM31. Are you going to Germany for a visit maybe  ??? You could sell yours on Ebay. Otherwise try to get a transformer  :).

Firstly welcome - we're glad you found us - can't wait for some of your recipes.

YOU CAN USE the TM 21 from Germany in US - others have.  You will need a transformer, but it has been done and cheaper than buying a new one (or going and trying to sell another 10 !!)

http://www.forumthermomix.com/index.php?topic=268.0  I am not sure if francoise still works for them - but worth trying to contact her.

If you have no luck, then try contacting Thermomix in Spain - Teresa Barrenechea, their head, had a restaurant in New York and speaks English perfectly and would be able to help.

hi everyone!
thanks so much for your ideas and your help!

you know it might sound strange but i am really curious about the tm31. what is the difference between them both (21 and 31)? which one is better to handle and work with? can you tell me a little bit more about that?

i know... i should be thankful i have the 21 (even i cant use it right now). but somehow i just want to figure out the new one.

hope to read back from you. have a good evening, isabelle

Good advice.   I posted the link to the  place where I bought my transformer in my earlier post:
http://www.220-electronics.com/Transformers/trans/twowaytrans.htm

This one works nicely with my DVD player and I have used it with one of the collectible  Goblin Teasmades  I bought from the UK ebay.
(another appliance I collect) it worked perfectly, the timer produced the brewed tea at the exact time for which it was set.

I have been told that some transformers interfere with "automatic" appliance that have timers and so I opted for the more expensive version.  I could have bought one for $35.00 locally but the documentation  was sketchy and this one had better reviews.
I have the T-2000 but I am sure the T-1500 would have been completely adequate for my needs.

Hi Isabella, I really enjoyed reading your story. Good for you, obviously someone telling you that you can't do something really spurs you on to prove them wrong.  Pity about the marriage in the end though but you are not alone on this forum in that regard - there are a few of us been through that and come out the other side much stronger and with minds of our own.
From what I have read the later model is better than the one you have - it is a lot quieter and has a reverse button on it which we use a lot as it prevents foods being chopped up. Whatever you decide to do, you have lots of options with all the replies, I wish you well in your quest to get back cooking with a Thermomix.  We would all understand here how you would be feeling, not being able to use it. Thanks for becoming 'one of us'.  :-* :-*

Welcome - so glad you found us! You certainly will fit in quite well here! Sorry, I can't comment on differences between TM21 - never seen one except pictures on here. But I do know I couldn't live without TM 31!!  ;)

hi girls :0),
thanks so much for your nice *welcome* ~ from other forums i know that its not always a nice one :0).

i think i made up my mind. of course i want the tm31.

can i ask you girls something? if there are consultans here, do they sell the thermomix here? just a question. i know from germany that you only were allowed to sell them on a show in the homes of people.

if anybody knows, please let me know.

now that i am reading here i am TOTALLY in the thermomix fever, AGAIN *lol*.

i will try to find my cookbooks from my tm21, they are packed up with my tm21. in germany we totally cook different and i always love new ideas from other countries.

have a good day ~ now i am thinking about the german chocolate pudding from the thermomix and i cant make one :(.

If you contact Canada they will ship it without the home demo.  I bet you are really keen now.
