This is what my mum found also. She saved the stones she collected from the lemon and oil flush she did (YUK!) and took them to the doctors - the doctor was very interested in getting them tested so sent them to pathology. When tests came back she was told there are 2 types of stones - soft ones (cholesterol??? - I think - not sure) and those really hard ones that don't break down or flush out. So she had only got rid of the one type and had to get op anyway to remove others. But I was just hoping as science advanced they would find a way to get rid of stones and not the whole gall. But soooo true ILB you should never undergo any treatment or put anything in your mouth without a full investigation.  :)

This other lady that did the pre, surgically removed and post samples found the same. Apparently after much research that similar stones also form in your liver, which are much more easily passed. So when this lady did the post flush, she was getting rid of the same kind of stones that she passed on the first flush (hope that makes sense  ???).

I got mine out as I had researched and talked to others who'd done flushes and still had them too.  My naturopath was totally against me getting it out but man it has had an effect on my mood and stress levels!  My stress levels dropped so quick after.  Apparently chinese medicine says anger and frustration is held in the gallbladder, so that coincides with my stress levels dropping.  Even hubby said I'm not so jittery, a lot calmer.

Has also now shown up to my doctor my malabsorption problem a lot more, so now investigating that yuk. lol

Hope you all feel better too that had yours removed

Thanks Lexi. I probably have less resentment and maybe a little calmer but some mornings getting ready for work DD might argue that lol.
But still have issues coping with much fats. But much healthier than before the op!

Sorry to hear about the malabsorption issue. Some vitamins etc can only be absorbed by fat, so a reduced fat intake will reduce the goodness we're getting from food. Remembering my GP gave me quiet a spiel on how importantfat is in our diet. Anyway i'm off track now. Hope they can find what's causing it soon!

I suddenly need to read this thread through very carefully.  My Dad has been in hospital for the last week with 3 large gallstones (1 blocking his duct) and an extremely infected and enlarged gall bladder.  The poor man cannot be operated on until the infection is gone but it shows no sign of subsiding.  I had no idea that gallstones could be so painful and cause so many complications.  My Dad didn't even know he had any gall stones prior to this severe attack.

Chelsea, so sorry to hear about your Dad  :'(. Hope the infection goes quickly!

I had no idea I had gall stones either. Apparently most people do have gall stones, but it doesn't worry most people. I'd thought it was a dairy intolerance that was gradually getting worse until I had an "attack" that lasted days and was in terrible pain. Mum kept telling me it was just interg estion  :-)) but any of the antacids didn't touch it at all.

It is just awful.  I hope your Mum's are settled soon and she is able to have them out.  My Dad is off morphine now and is just waiting until the infection disappears (the anti-biotics are taking a while to work). He is the last of his siblings to have their gall bladders out.  I'm hoping it finishes with his generation.

Isnt this all a co-incidence! Or just very common.  :o :o :o :o My Father in Law is in hospital at the moment too! For just over a week with stones in his gall bladder, one is obstructing a duct and has caused lots of infection too! Lets hope they all get sorted out quickly!

Wow... all this is so interesting.

I've had my gallbladder out as it was 'finished' along with over 60+ corn-sized stones about 12 years ago after I've had my first baby. The attacks came just a couple of weeks after the birth and was so bad that I cannot do anything for days - spewin, etc - you see?  :-\

It was so hard to do anything like investigating why this happened so I just went and got it out. I was told that I was lucky that they've got it out in time. Guess it was that bad.

It was only just about 10 mins ago that I finally realised that all the symptoms I've been feeling for the last 10 years were just after the operation - so I am now investigating whether it is related to the absence of the gallbladder that affects my own body. Sighs... that's why I was saying that its all so interesting!

I am now wondering what's with appendicitis... as I've got mine out last Dec!!  :-))

Thanks for this

For those of you who've had your GB out recently, it does get better with time.

I used to vomit after eating bacon or even chips, but now I can have a moderate amount of fatty foods without too much coming back at me.

I had mine out 8 years ago after my mum's 50th bday party.  I'd barely eaten anything except a roast lamb roll (It was spit roasted so DEVINE!), one glass of wine and I woke up feeling like I had drunk 4 bottles of wine.  It was foul.  Ended up severely sick for a few days to which I eventually got into a specialist.  Did an ultrasound, saw that my GB was PACKED full of stones and booked me in for surgery 3 weeks later.

I ended up in so much pain that 2 days after my appointment, I rang begging for any cancellation surgeries and he managed to fit me in the following Wednesday.  It was sweet relief when it was taken out.  The stones themselves... Well there was no way in hell they were gonna be dissolved any  way. They were as hard as all buggery.

I was 23 at the time and had no symptoms prior to my attack.  I only had the one attack and it was a doozy.  8 years on, things are pretty normal.  The first couple of years I had to carry a roll of quickeze in my handbag, but I barely get reflux anymore.  The best bit about it out is that you are FORCED to think about the amount of fat you consume.

Good luck to all suffering.  I hope it is remedied somehow soon.  (Surgery or not)
Steph.

Thanks The Vermins.  :-* 6 months on and it's getting a little easier. Mostly just really sensitive about 12 hours after eating any rich, heavy or fatty foods and have noticed that this week I've had intergestion from Monday to Friday after eating a goat dish (it had way too much meat for my liking - but was yummy).

You are totally right, its made me completely re-think the way I eat which really is all for the better.

Not sure if it's related or not, but lately after bread and more so yeast breads I feel soooo bloated!! Not sure if it's just because I'm more attune to my body now or if I've somehow become more sensitive, but I guess it's all good for reviewing whats good for my body or not.  ;)

I'm going to try REAL sour dough.  A girlfriend of mine has a starter that is 17 yr old.  I can't wait to make some!  I"d give real sour dough a go.  See if that helps the bloating.

Might try that. I've been having some Irish Brown Soda Bread lately. No yeast, just baking powder/bi carb soda. And that goes down a lot easier.

sourdough is fun... but I will warn you.. it's addictive (well baking it is!  :D)

The theory is good.. since it contains helpful gut cultures.  Here's hoping it works!
