Easy Mayonaise

Name of Recipe: Traditional mayonaise
Number of People:
Ingredients:
I will list ingrediants per egg. I usually make 3 or 4 eggs at a time.
1 egg room temperature
1 Tablespoon mustard (dijon is my prefered)
1 teaspoon salt or to taste
1/4 teaspoon whit pepper (or black if you do not mind the flecks)
1 Tablespoon vinegar or lemon juice
about 250ml oil I prefer a light olive or sunflower






Preparation:
Put all the ingredients except the oil in the TMX Bowl
Put the MC in place
Set speed at 9
Pour the oil on the lid and it will dribble in
When about half of oil is in lift the MC and check. If it is starting to cling to the sides you can add the oil faster.
The more oil you add the thicker it will get. So you decide. Stick the spatula in and see how thick it is as you go.

Tips/Hints:
This keeps well in the fridge. You can add flavours such as garlic or tomatoe paste. Add chopped pickles. It is a great basic for other dressings.

Just made this! Think I used a teeny bit too much mustard as it wasn't as white as yours but still really yummy! thanks ;D

Lisa,  The color is not important. How is the taste? My picture looks a bit whiter than it is in real time. :) I was trying to show how it stands up. I use this as the basis for lots of other dressings by adding the various flavours. Garlic or  blue cheese or tomato and pickle to name a few.

It was yummy, I'm making it again now! I found it thicker than the EDC one, which I like! ;D

The "light" oil usually means tastewise so it doesn't have a strong flavour..  it's still the same amount of fat.

It would depend on which oils you used though. :)

I just use it sparingly!  ;D

That's the exact recipe I use!! I put a lot of Dijon Mustard in mine though, and also some honey. It's a lovely mayo.
A great cook is one who can rustle up a fabulous family meal with some freezer burnt chops, wilted carrots, sprouting potatoes and cabbage that's gone brown on the cut edges.

After a disastrous attempt at the EDC mayonnaise I had almost given up trying until I came across this recipe. Its fantastic thanks ozzy-dj. I heated all the ingredients to 37 degrees first to make sure they were all at room temperature and it was a complete success. I wonder about those EDC recipes sometimes!

I haven't had success with this method, but both times I've tried it I have managed to save the split by adding it to a batch using Quirky Jo's recipe.  It's funny how some methods work for some people and not others.  At least nothing is wasted if the split can be saved.  :)

Mine edc one came out alright but i'm not struck on the flavour, I should have looked here first because i used powdered mustard. I'm only new, I'm sure there will be more "experiences" like this. Jenny  :)
