YUM!!!!!!!!!!!!

I made this as per recipe and it was so yummy that I on my own, went through it in less than 2 weeks! I found myself just craving for it as it's so cold here at the moment!
When I made it, I only had the light coloured rapadura (came from a different supplier than normal) and then I had run out of rapadura so the second time I made it I had to use coconut palm sugar - it tasted even better! There's no way this lot will last 2 weeks (especially if I share it this time  ;) )
To grind the coconut palm sugar up, I added it in with the nuts etc., and it almost turned to butter - and so I'm not getting as many crunchy leftover bits to eat at the end - but I'm also not choking on it if drinking whilst having a conversation as would happen with the first batch - not sure which way I prefer  :-\

Anyway - either I'm going to have to increase our share in our co-op cow or else I had better try some milk alternatives with it - I'm thinking cashew nut milk? Any suggestions?

All this milo talk - guess where I'm off to next .....  :D

Can't wait to make this! The kids will be rapt, we haven't had milo or anything similar for ages.

What do you think though - brown sugar, raw sugar, or wait another week till my rapadura arrives??

So this one passed the my TM recipe test, my DH. Although he loves TM food, he doesn't believe that you can replicate something store bought such as milo. I made milo the other day as he was really fanging for some and I won't buy it now. The verdict -  he loves the homemade milo and I even reduced the sugar a little. My kids and their friends love it to. Thanks for a great recipe.

@jsthermie: Definitely try cashew milk with it - we do, and it's delicious!! I just use 100g raw cashews, add 600g water & a dash of pure maple syrup, whiz up on speed 9 for 1 1/2 mins, and voila - delicious creamy cashew milk! Sometimes I add the milo to it before whizzing - add a couple of ice cubes for cold milo, and heat on 80 degrees for hot! Yum :)

I don't know what I like more - my new Thermomix or this forum!  Homemade Milo WOW - I've stopped buying it just because it's so expensive and my kids go through it so fast.  I can't wait to do a cost comparison when I try this.

Can I ask - cocoa powder - any particular brand/type is the best?  I don't really bake so don't know what's good or maybe it doesn't matter?  Is no-name brand equal to ??

Hi Vivaroo, glad you like the Homemade Milo.  So much cheaper and better for the kids (and you.

I think better quality cocoa powder does make a big difference taste wise.  At the very least, go for Cadbury's instead of a no-name.  If you're looking for better nutritional coco, this post has some info about the difference.

I use woolworths brand pure cocoa. Great value nothing added, and a very dark rich cocoa ;)

I made a small batch and I liked it, my son didn't first time (had a tantrum that I don't buy Milo anymore) but tried it again and likes it now.  He knows to try things more than once.  We call it Mum-o.
Thanks for the info on cocoa.
