CarolineW's Husband's Scrambled Eggs
« on: November 19, 2008, 01:55:37 am »
Scrambled eggs are one of those dishes that I really love and I keep meaning to try the TMX, but usually make them when I'm only half awake on Sunday am.  This is a recipe from CarolineW posted in the Questions section and copied here to ensure everybody looking for a scrambled egg recipe finds it.

Thanks CarolineW.

My husband made scrambled eggs this morning.  He and my daughter both said they were excellent (I didn't have any).  This is what he did:

4 eggs
50g milk
30g butter
salt & pepper

Put all ingredients in mixing bowl.  Put butterfly whisk in.  10 minutes at speed 2, 100 degrees.

Hope this helps

Caroline

BTW  That's 5 "tickets" in the competition. ;)

Just a tip on the scrambled eggs.  My husband now adds 1 tablespoon of natural yogurt to the mix.  It tastes sublime.
As my picture shows, I've suddenly become younger :-)  DD was of the opinion that her picture should be here, not mine!

I tried this without the yoghurt and it was lovely.  Very clever.

another tip - don't cook these ahead or time - or if you do then don't cook them the full 10 mins - or they will set hard while waiting in the hot bowl  :-))

however i can report that doubling the recipe still cooks perfectly in 10 minutes (with no waiting time in the bowl lol)

If you're getting close to cooked and are not ready to cook then turn down the temp to 37 and  speed soft  ^^ and keep it going for 5 or 10 minutes with the butterfly keping iy moving.

Oh i might try this.  I might cook some bacon before hand and then add the eggs to it.

Had a cooked lunch today so finally got around to trying these for tea tonight.  Added some chopped parsley and served topped with tomato slices - yum.  Only downside is that the cleaning of the TMX with this recipe is a lot harder than the non-stick frying pan.  The upside is you can get everything else ready whilst the TMX is doing the work.  Has anyone had a glass of wine with their scrambled eggs ??? ??? ??? Well it was tea time, not breakfast :P :P :P

I have tried with a low temp and making it hot before adding the eggs as Tenina had suggested that it would be less likely to stick.

Neither way is great - usually some crust left on the base.  :-\

Has anyone ever tried lining the base with baking paper ie. cutting a neat circle of baking paper, and cutting a radius line into the middle of the paper so that paper can fit neatly around the blades? I wonder if the blades would lift the paper up? I may have to give this a go tomorrow morning at brekky time to find out...

Well, I must be dumb too CP63 because I was actually going to suggest the same thing.  Even started the posting then deleted it ;D ;D  because I thought no, the egg would get underneath it anyway.  What if we folded the paper in such a way that it went up the sides a bit as well. One small hole in the middle of the paper for the blades to be fitted.  Would the egg mixture keep the paper down flat enough for the blades to do their job?  If we sprayed the TM bowl first that might help keep the paper down too.  Mmm, worth trying. I'm sure someone will give it a go for Sunday breakfast.
