If he does finger food, could you try the custard as a dip with fruit or bread? My kids were finger-food-only kinds of kids, but loved "sauces" of any kind  

Had to scrap tye idea of bread for dinner - dh arrived home with a trailer of garden mix soil for our new garden beds!! Had quick coleslaw with the lasagne instead (after unloading and planting). Made the mayo we used to have as kids, and dh said it was just like kfc coleslaw

Good idea! He is a finger food kid, the only things he has ever let us feed him is yoghurt/weetbix etc because he can't get that into his mouth fast enough on his own!!

I follow my late grandmother recipe which uses either Sherry or orange juice. Everytime I make Christmas pudding I start feeling merry and get excited about Christmas for the kids
