Lovely everyone, and lovely pics.
When I was a child we had chestnut trees all around, you can get very sore fingers from peeling chestnuts  and holes in the carpet from roasting them in the open fire!

Forgot to say that as I made the cake from the cupboards I had no colouring and wanted to make a contrast. In desperation I melted one jelly square and mixed in in the glacé icing. It worked and we are now eating jelly and ice cream for dessert. It's hilarious as haven't made it for YEARS and we had a visitor yesterday and they thought it very funny.

Only cooking lunch today.

I have at last finished the jelly mould thing a ma jig. I served it with fresh fruit salad.

May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

maddy, all looks beautiful.  Tell Dad that he can come and visit any time.  I have a friend who is known in Australia an Mr Dutch, (Professor of Dutch),  i will invite him also.  ;D
GF,  thanks for sharing with us your day in the country.  Sounds like Heaven to me.  We have Chestnut and walnut trees but the birds enjoy them.  We have a Nut festival in Victoria at the end of April.  We went a couple of years ago and had a great time.  Each year we buy Chestnuts to roast on the fire.  It is a fun occasion and everyone enjoys it.

A pleasure, Chookie...it was an exquisitely beautiful day weather wise, too. The kind of day you just want to bottle and keep!! ;D My DD has made her paste (boiled the chestnuts before peeling... Wants now to roast them to see how it affects the flavour ) and enjoyed it on crepes this morning.  I'll post her notes a little later..

frank and i are still trying to eat low fat low carbs  :(

Uni... almost all carbs are low fat ;) Pasta, bread, rice, potatoes and grains only become fattening if you add butter/cream/lots of cheese :P

No cooking for me today. We have biscuits, brownies and hot cross bun pudding that needs eating before I can do anything else :(
