I must read my SFI.. I haven't looked at it yet.

No cooking here today apart from Dinner and some much needed bread. Yesterday I made an interesting bread with seeds, rye, wholemeal and bakers' flour. It had molasses as well. It is quite heavy but very tasty. It used a pre ferment you start the night before. I will put the recipe up.

Today I am having a visitor  so have made for the very first time Belgian Lemon Teacake and my first ever custard.

I poached the egg when making the filling for the Teacake! Instead of starting again I just whizzed it for a minute and it all became creamy. Probably not right but no waste. LOL!

Then I made the custard from the EDC. First time ever I have made a custard. I forgot to put the sugar in so added it at the end and seems fine.

Now I am making Helene's one minute bread. And later Maddy's Artichoke and Parmesan Tart

Your visitor will be very impressed Gert.  A nice bottle of wine to go with it and you'll receive high praise I'm sure.  Enjoy your day.

Phew Chookie that's a lot of cooking. Surprised you haven't cooked custard before Gert. I am so tired. Must be from running around after sick husband and daughter. I want to make a Quiche and bacon, noodle loaf this afternoon for lunches. Also want to make the KFC spice mix.

my mind is blank ATM - have DD2 and future son in law coming for dinner, and want to make something in the woodfire oven. We had roast lamb on Friday and it feels just like yesterday. Hoping for a lightening bolt idea to strike me...

Congratulations to your DD2. I'm sure the lightening bolt will arrive.

Gert, lovely cooking. Your visitor will enjoy their meal. The tart is delicious. We often have it.

Chookie you have been very busy again. Your food sounds delicious.

I have cooking plans for this afternoon. Hopefully they will come to fruition.

Whoa...how do you all do it?? Soooo much cooking in a day? Especially Chookie.

I'm such a weakling :( Made bolognese sauce, which took almost 2 hours. Whilst that was simmering, made EDC pizza bases for par baking. They were for freezer. Can make pizzas in the airfryer on busier days. And since I had the oven on, I made a butter cake using my usual ingredients and KitchenAid. But trying out rapadura for the first time. Will see if my fussy DS9 will like it. He loves butter cake...and I hope he won't fuss over a new taste.

Now I'm tired. Back is sore. Oh well...my little break on the forum is over. Now to clear up my kitchen mess.
