HAS ANYONE TRIED THE BATH BOMBS IN THE VEGETARIAN COOKBOOK?
Thought I saw a review the other day and cant find it. I've got the oils in the bowl and it says to blend them together, but there isn't enough in the bowl to mix -it all sits under the blades  :-\ >:( ???

I don't know your recipe.  I made some with baking soda, arrowroot powder, oat flour and coconut oil. They turned out awesome. The original from virus culinarius was with milk powder instead oat and regular starch.



We had  tonight sprouted lentil salad, marinated tofu with spinach and brown basmati rice.

They look great Tebasile!! Could I please get the recipe off you some time?

The one I used was in the back of the Vegetarian cookbook.
400g bi-carb soda
100g citric acid
dried herbs or flowers of choice (I didn't use)
2 tsp of almond oil
essential oil/s of choice
colouring (optional)
you combine the bi-carb and citric acid and set aside. Then add the oils and colouring and combine - but 2 tsps of oil sits under the blades no where near enoughto combine anything. I ended up using about 5 tablespoons of Almond oil so it would combine.

Eventually got them into some moulds but most unimpressed with the recipe.

Just whipped up a double batch of lemon butter and about to do some passionfruit butters, then choc hazelnut spread. :P

Visitors tonight,   they have just ordered a T.M. so I thought I would tease them and have made    Date with Kahlua brulee.  I converted the recipe as I sat in a coffee shop and copied out the recipe.    Getting a bit too smart for my own good !

You're getting as bad as me  :o :o :o  :-))  - good work  :-*

YES  and Thank you ILB. I know your recipe. My daughter made some bath bombs for me as a gift by hand. What a mess with the dried herbs  :-))

I've had a bit of a cook in this afternoon. I made some Capsicum and sundried tomato dip from the EDC. The beetroot ,parmesan and cashew dip from the Festive book and the good old parsley and garlic dip from the EDC. I then did some mini plum puddings from a recipe I adapted and last of all the Fruit mince Croissants using my own fruit mince.
I feel I have accomplished something this afternoon.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.

I make bath bombs, but use my food processor for them as they have colour and fragrance added. I don't want to have my custard tasting like lemon verbena bath bombs!

My recipe is as follows, converted for TMX  for you:

1 cup citric acid
2 cups baking soda (bi-carbonate of soda)
2-3 Tbsp almond oil
Food dye
Fragrance or Essential oil
Witch Hazel - available from pharmacy. Place into a spray bottle.

Blend the bi-carb and citric together in a clean dry  *: Add oil slowly drizzling in while blending. Add food colouring (be sparing as this is water based and you don't want it to start fizzing! ) and fragrance.
Remove mixture and place into a bowl. Spritz with witch hazel while stirring with your hand, working quickly. Be sparing with the witch hazel too!  Test by squishing the mixture between your hands, if it sticks together, it's ready. Press into mould. If the mixture is crumbly, spritz and press. Wait a few minutes and tip them out gently onto paper towel to dry out.
Allow to dry for 3 - 4 hours before packaging in cellophane.
Notes:
1. The harder you pack the mixture into the mould, the denser, heavier and more durable bombs you'll get.
2. If you want to make a variety of fragrances, just make a base without the almond oil, fragrance and colour. Remove 1/2 cup of base mixture and add 1 tsp almond oil, touch of colour and a few drops of essential or fragrance oil of choice. Pack into mould as before.
3. It isn't necessary to add oil to the bombs. It can be messy, in fact, as the oil leaves a slick in the tub.
4. You can add 1/2 cup epsom salt to above recipe. Grind it when blending the two powders together.

Yes off to a small party. Very noisy and lots of fun, eating and a little drinking. We were up on the top story of a friends house with lovely views to the city and of the river. Everyone knows each other very well and it's fun. The dips went down very well.
A few stayed over for the night, but as it was only 10-15 minutes away we couldn't justify that. I think a few may have had aching heads this morning. The host went through uni with DH many eons ago and they have remained very good friends ever since, despite postings to Broome, Christmas island, Kalumburu, One Arm point and others.
May all dairy items in your fridge be of questionable vintage.
