Thanks andiesenji! I eat a lot of rice too, but I tend to only have one type in at a time, eat it, and then get another one. To be honest, I shop for price on certain products - wild rice, red rice (from the Camargue in our case), and high-end risotto rices are too pricey for everyday eating - and I'm quite happy with straightforward white or brown basmati for most things, and arborio for risotto...

Oh Katya - You are my living dictionary!!
Doodle is nice - very nice!
Isi - unfortunately there is a big difference between "doodles" and "doddles". "Doodles" (with 2 o's) are drawings that you might do when you are on the telephone - squiggles and lines without any real pictures. "Doddle" (with 2 d's) is being very easy as I described it before.
The English language is such a pain to get familiar with because there is such a difference between 2 o's and 2 d's.....
I think you are doing incredibly well to be able to have any conversation at all with us - and to be able to describe your recipes in such a way that we can follow them is brilliant ....

Katya: I am impressed with the patience you have to explain all this to me - but - you can not imagine how much it feeds my wisdom!
THANK YOU SO MUCH

This morning I made a lasagne, Alioop's vanilla slice, Isi's light coffee cream (made chocolate though) to freeze for ice-cream later, some parmesan breadcrumbs for the freezer and finally knocked up a coffee bread & butter pudding using bits and pieces of any recipe I could get my hands on. I was thrilled with the result and DH loved it too - if it passes his taste test I know I am onto a winner. Have posted the recipe.

Yes, it's lovely in SA at the moment too so I feel for you WA girls. Still, your TMX's get a good workout with all the drinks etc you need to survive. Hope there is relief in sight for you all.

Cucumber and rocket soup, raw pasta sauce, raw kale salad with red onion and lime salsa. A loaf of bread is baking out in the solar oven

I bake nearly all of my bread in the SO from about Nov to March. It stops the house heating up when the outside temps hit 42.3 as they did today

I knew I was mad making bread today. I need a solar oven too. We went for a drive up into the hills after lunch to buy some cheap stone fruit. I came home and made a batch of apricot jam as well as 'pigging out' on all the rest of the fruit. The jam is lovely. (Bron's recipe). I bought the dried apricots to do MJ's recipe but they will keep.

okay so i am back from the snow in england , last week it was -3 today its over 40 in Perth!!
My 3yr old got into eating soups in England, now its too hot!! THere is nothing for it I am just going to have to whip up a sorbet!!
Have decided on Pizza for dinner...i used the recipe out of the UK fast and easy book but found it quite sticky compared to the Aus EDC
seems to be some quite interesting recipes in the english book, when it cools down I might try some out!
